Porting Outfit to SSE, Equip body piece = CTD. Halp.

Sorry if there's a thread I should have put this in.

 

I've finally decided to bite the bullet and begin porting my modlist to SSE, and I've hit a snag already.

 

Trying to get a personal edit SMP cloth outfit to load in SSE and it causes CTD on equipping the body piece every time (and before someone says it's the SMP, I doubt it. The hood works fine with all physics and collisions (better than in LE actually.)) all other parts besides the body work just fine, but when I try and equip the body I get an *almost* instant CTD. It equips for a brief second then crashes while still in menu.

 

I've converted the .nifs as well as the .esp for the mod.

Tried removing all .xmls from the meshes, no luck. (edit: wrote .xmps by mistake)

Tried changing baseshape ref to an SSE body, no luck.

Tried removing baseshape completely, no luck.

Tried reinstalling XPMSSE, no luck.

 

Is there some specific way I need to set up the mesh to stop this? I'm really at a loss.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know where logs are spit out in SSE? Having trouble finding them.

*SS attached for the only second I got it to equip before crashing (the lack of a ref body is expected since I cleaved it out to test lol). CTD an instant after the second was taken (spammed f12 to get something).

Yes, I mentioned in OP (2nd in the list) that I removed the .xmls (via nifscope) from the problematic mesh.

Then it is probably a bad format somewhere in the nif file.  Maybe it didn't convert all the material properties correctly?  Would have to look at the nif file to see that.

Ah I had a suspicion it would be something like that. I'm no pro at these things, only really decent at editing other's work to suit my needs, so I'm not sure where to begin. Perhaps I'll remove the skirt from the mesh and see if it crashes still.

Here's the .nif if you care to look at it, for however long it'll stay up due to copyright etc etc.

Oop, progress!
 

Removed the old virtualground and managed to get out of the menu a take a step before the CTD!

Well, the skirts shape in the nif has 81 bones, SSE only allows 80 bones per shape. With 81 bones in that shape, the mesh will stretch to infinity...

Try renaming the textures folder of the mod, I know the mesh will show up purple in game, just curious as to whether it will still CTD or not with the skirts still in the nif....
