HungerShovel Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 After installing some Creature Animation mods (Creature Framework, MoreNastyCritters, Hentai Creatures, and some animations) at least 2 animals seem to be broken in-game. I have so far discovered that the Fox and the Wolf are broken. Upon their spawning, they stand still with a ridiculous facial expression and stand in place. (see attachment) Their AI does react to me, they show as red dots on my compass and battle music plays if they spawned in groups, but they are completely disabled from moving. I tried to do away with them and roll it back, disabling all mods for the creatures I have installed, and uninstalling creatures from FNIS. After that, I took off the scripts that the FNIS creature pack comes with, and re-ran FNIS again. The creatures are still broken, even with no creature mods. This is also an opportunity to verify if my load order is good, I relied on LOOT for it and want to reduce CTDs if possible. Any help provided is much appreciated, successful or not! NOTE: I do not run any ENBs (my custom little "modpack" is to add more survival gameplay without making my dated graphics card cry). These files are from my MO2 profile. loadorder.txt modlist.txt plugins.txt
MadMansGun Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 try clicking on "De-Install Creatures" in FNIS, after it's done running click on "Update FNIS Behavior" if that fails then try deleting wolfbehavior.hkx and then running FNIS.

I reinstalled creature behaviors to try this, but unfortunately it did not work. The only thing that was different was that the wolf made a painful *yelp* as I spawned him in.

Just did it that way as well, and same result. The only mod I can think of it having an effect is SkyTEST but I tried with it disabled and, again, same result.
donttouchmethere Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 you could post your fnis output (copy paste)

As I was experimenting with it, it got worse. Now every creature has the problem. The problem got worse when I disabled some SL Anim Loader plugins, and they persisted after running FNIS again. This looks like a problem related to that mod, but taking it off didn't fix anything. No matter how much I play around with De-Install Creatures and rebuilding, it doesn't make a difference.
MadMansGun Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Windows (Vista/7/8/10) Security may interfere with updating/overwriting the FNIS behavior files, make sure FNIS and your mod manager (if your using one) are running with administrator privileges.
donttouchmethere Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 Might be an issue with MO overwrite folders, do you know how to use them? I don't ?

I put my installation of Skyrim in the Documents folder for this reason (Program Files x86 is protected) and after trying FNIS with admin, it had no different effect.

HungerShovel Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 I'll try to reinstall the game and use the mods in MO2 to install only things I need for my survival gameplay and SL, with no creature mods. I backed up my broken skyrim in case it's worse and hopefully it can work.
HungerShovel Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 I am reading tutorials and I realize I was using MO2 with FNIS all wrong. Since I didn't know the proper method, I just checked files that I thought maybe had FNIS entries and force pasted them into my game, which means there were probably a lot of animations that went under the radar. Now I see how I can make it write to a folder in my mod profile and I can just paste it from there.
HungerShovel Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 So I followed the guide and redirected my FNIS output to a folder... but the files aren't there. This is what my new FNIS log says. 'FNIS ini file ' 'IMPORTANT: To take effect, this file (FNIS.ini0) has to be copied MANUALLY to Skyrim\Data\FNIS.ini. Then edit FNIS.ini. 'For NMM Virtual Install or MO users: FNIS.ini has to go to "real" SKYRIM\Data (NOT inside the virtual mod folders!) 'Note: All lines starting with ' are comments. To activate a parameter you have to remove the apostrophe (e.g. "PSCD=1") ' 'PSCD implements "Proper Spell Cast Direction" fix based on www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68794 'That allows the player to cast spells or shoot arrows even if the target is VERY well above or below 'Downside: when using camera mods or certain animation replacers, the bending might look unnatural 'Users who want the vanilla bend limits rather then the PSCD fix can switch this fix off here (PSCD=0) 'Default PSCD=0 (DO NOT use "Proper Spell Cast Direction") ' 'PSCD=1 ' 'File Redirection allows you to put FNIS generated files into a separate folder (should be outside of the Skyrim "Data") 'This supports different profiles in MO (and Vortex?) 'The following parameter defines the root directory for the resultant files. For example 'Default (no file redirection possible) ' RedirectFiles=C:\Users\jeffr\AppData\Local\ModOrganizer\SkyrimSE Modded\mods\FNIS Output ' 'Instant Execution will run FNIS without having to click either "Update FNIS Behavior" or "Exit". 'The FNIS window will only pop up if FNIS has to report error or warnings. 'This is a feature primarily for Vortex, but can be used otherwise. 'It is recommended that you use this feature only from a windows .bat file, because otherwise you will not see when FNIS is done. 'Default (regular windows operation) ' 'InstantExecute=1 ' 'Load CTD Calculation (only FNIS XXL) calculates the "animation" space used by the current FNIS installation and each of its 'FNIS depending to determine if the game will CTD on load. See https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/articles/1168. 'If you don't want this information (e.g. you don't change your animation mods very much) or the small amount of time it takes 'you can switch it off (LoadCTDCalculation=0) 'Default: LoadCTDCalculation=1 (Calculation on, XXL only) ' 'LoadCTDCalculation=0 ===== It seems that every time I try and mod my game, something goes wrong. What did I do wrong?
HungerShovel Posted November 17, 2019 Author Posted November 17, 2019 This is really strange. I am successful! The wolf I spawned in jumped at me immediately and his attacks are working, and SexLab says that my FNIS was generated and creature behaviors exist. I think the application bugged on reading the ini, but this is in a working state! I will back this up. Before I go and this case is closed, does anyone have some good guides I can read to tell me how I can mod creatures without breaking it again? EDIT: SL Anim Loader was installed successfully and didn't break my game this time. I have yet to install creatures to it, just some human stuff.
MadMansGun Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 well there's this one https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/3524-sexlab-more-nasty-critters-install-guide/ but you will need another guide on top of it for mod manager stuff.

I didn't need a mod manager guide, FNIS worked great for it. Only one more unexpected "problem" happens and it's probably just a tag issue. Debugging a spriggan works, creature animations work and they're not stuck in T-poses! The only thing that happens now is instead of SL's Defeat mod letting the spriggan attacking me, she leaves me on the ground and I either pass out or lay there to get up again. Thanks for your help. I think the problem was my FNIS install was improper.
