BOSS and FNVEdit Merged Patch Questions

OK,

I'm venturing into the world of BOSS, and I'm wondering if its any good for general plugins? I know it doesn't really affect sexout, but then I already know the suggested load order for that.

What I am wanting to know is if its any good at sorting out other, more "generic" plugins and avoiding conflicts/crashes?

Secondly, has anybody else experienced a really long loading time for the menu to show up when you press escape with a merged patch running? Any other menus also take time, like barter and exchanging items from an NPC.

Or is it just me?

Thanks.

BOSS is a good start, but it doesn't cover everything. You'd still need to run FNVEdit to clean up anything BOSS misses. Its basically just a time saver.

As for the menu issue, thats a new one on me.

Ouch...one issue I've had with boss that I see is that it only sorts plugins that it recognizes with any kind of success, you then need to manually sort the rest, which it could put in a wrong order accidentally. It's pretty good on an initial install to save a little bit of time and to make sure master files are in the right order, but there are so many esps out there that it won't recognize very many.

Never run BOSS and leave it at that. Theskid is right, there are a lot of mods it doesn't recognize. BOSS is only a starting point, you should always follow up with FNVEdit.

I know, I was aware of that. I didn't think there would be a problem because nearly all of the mods it didn't recognise were Sexout related, and none were active.

Yet, it must have done something with the rest, because now I can't exit that cell.

Oh the joy!

BOSS for FNV is much less reliable than it is for Oblivion and the like. No one updates the FNV masterlist, so lots of plugins are unrecognized and some are improperly ordered because someone updated it wrong and it never gets caught... because it's never updated. Heh.
