The first problem is copyright. Although you can generally do what you like to a program you own on your own computer, releasing resources that someone else holds copyright to is a no-no in most jurisdictions. The exact answer to your question is going to vary depending on the engine that the game uses. In general, chances are good that someone, somewhere has developed a program (often command line) that will extract resources from a given game. The next step is to import those resources into Blender. This generally requires a script specialized for the game engine you are importing from, and that script may only work with a specific version of Blender. So, you may need to run multiple simultaneous installs of Blender.

Even when you have the tools to do it all from start to finish it is still tough to do right. from reading your post I going to assume that you are either just starting to learn your way around blender or you have not yet begun. My advice to you before you start on rips is to begin in blender by altering existing meshes start with the BBB tutorials that can be found here on LL and on Nexus. Look over Gerra's scripts that can found here on LL and practice with those. From there you can move onto to other tutorials and start making your own changes to armors. Around mid week or the end of next week I should have a beginners friendly tutorial up here on how to create new items. I know that none of this is what you want but it is all a part of the first steps to get to what you want to do. There is a lot to learn and by doing things the way I suggested you can begin breaking it all down into manageable parts
gregathit Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 I definitely would agree with both of the above guys. I have spent about a month playing with various parts of blender and I can promise you that not very much is easy. I don't want to scare you away but I do want to you be aware that there is a learning curve. I am just now getting to the point where I don't take 3 steps back for every 1 step forward. Course, it could just be that I am a slow learner..... Do stick with it as some of the things you can do are just pure awesomesauce!
Khiropter Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Well as gsbmodders said i am just starting and i played a bit today whit blender and i saw that its not as easy as i thought. So thx for the advises i will look on the forum for the tutorials and start searching more on the net.
GSBmodders Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Course' date=' it could just be that I am a slow learner.....[/quote'] You? It took 3 months before I learned Ctrl Z, before that I kept thinking my god there really needs to be an undo button
gregathit Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Well, I have been liberally using the scale bones while animating, only to discover to my horror that they tend not reset when the animation is finished. While it was humorous to see them walking all funky or have their arms\torsos\heads in awkward positions it was not the look I was going for. It has cost me about 10 hours now to go back and remove all of them. I don't know what I was think when I did it....I honestly don't. I even remember now reading a section in the wiki that warned not to use them much. Guess that will teach me to ignore warnings eh?

The number one piece of advice I can give with Blender is to have a copy of all of the Blender keyboard shortcuts sitting next to you on your desk. The number one tip I can give you for Blender: Your work space in blender is subdivided into several separate, customizeable "areas". Here's the tip...the position of your mouse cursor determines which area is active, and the behavior of keyboard shortcuts changes depending on which area is active. One other thing...some of the most useful tools with Blender are fairly hidden. >Control-Alt-Shift-m while in edit mode selects all open edge vertices (non-manifold vertices). This is incredibly useful for finding holes in a mesh, or for selecting a waist, etc. >w from edit mode opens a pop-up menu with a ton of useful options >that little magnet looking thing in the 3d panel footer...that enables magnet snap...one of my favorite things. This allows you to drag a vertex around, and when you hold it will snap that vertex to whatever vertex is currently nearest to your mouse. You may notice that most tutorials out there have a horrible, awful, nasty, slow process for snapping one vertex to another...Just use Magnet Snap instead! Note: Magnet snap can also be toggled on by hitting shift-tab. Grab my scripts. They automate a ton of common modding tasks in Blender, from mending seams to converting clothing, to modifying animations. Ask questions.

gregathit Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Actually FOMM-FNV has an EXCELLENT bsa tool built into it. It will handle any of Bethesda's bsa files from Oblivion to Skyrim.
