Over-encumbered - and I can't move!

[Bluegunk]

When I become over-encumbered (carrying too much), instead of walking slowly, I am unable to walk at all. Just stuck in place.

I can jump, turn, but not walk at all. 3rd or 1st person.

The moment I drop stuff, I can walk again.

 

If anyone has experience, or knows of this glitch, and can recall which mod (or kind of mod) is most likely to cause this, I'd be grateful.

Meanwhile...off to track the culprit...

Sometimes we get carried away fixing a problem and forget to report back.

 

I don't like being sworn at. I'm a nice guy and I like to help people. All you needed to do was PM me and I would have helped you. Instead, well, you let yourself down with a display of bullying abuse.

 

For anyone else looking this up, the problem was (SKSE64) Havok Fix. If your FPS rises over 60, the stuck bug occurs when you are over-encumbered.

Huh... Well darn,  thanks for the explanation Bluegunk. (although had I been verbally assaulted like you were, I'd have been inclined to tell them to umm... fornicate off) You're far more ... forgiving than me. 

 

I had thought it was "normal" and yes, I've been there as well. I cheated my way out of it permanently, by shamelessly increasing my carry weight with player.modav carryweight N (where N is the additional carryweight I needed to overcome the "obstacle"). One thing led to another and now, in game, I'm a superhuman supernord who can easily carry a couple of automobiles on my back...

 

Sometimes, when someone mentions that I have too much stuff (guards, etc), I find myself laughing hysterically at thinking of the "sight" that "I" must be to the NPCs... (I loot every idiot who attempts to kill me, right down to their skivvies)

You should have seen the post before the edit.

 

Anyhow, another thing that causes a similar issue is if you apply a slow effect to the player, especially if its strong. The symptoms I've observed in that case is that you can not move if walking or running in first person, nor walking in 3rd person. You can however move if you run (not sprint) in 3rd person. The solution in that case obviously is to get rid of the thing giving you the slow mgef.

heh... I might/probably did, (vague memories of the sentence tone) and saved myself a perma ban for the "spice" of the post I started typing up back when, by not posting it.

 

Anyway... 

 

Not exactly sure what "slow effect" means, but presuming for a moment that I do... fwiw, I've only experienced a "slow condition" ?your "slow effect"? a few times in the game. Freeze/Ice spells don't seem to do anything to me other than being annoying and blinding me while their spell caster is spraying me (or any of the more powerful variants). Even when I start a new game and am level 9-10,11, it does little. idk why. maybe I installed some game breaking cheat along the way to avoid it. I hain't a full clue what I have installed anymore after all this time.  (yes, I could list them, but I don't pay attention is what I mean...they've just become part-n-parcel skyrim)

 

However, sometimes a dragon or draughur or a skeleton or one of the higher level addon beasties will spell me pretty good and I go into snail mode, or even get stuck in place.  I *think* I've used a global dispel via console in the past to fix it when it didn't timeout on its own (or one of the regular motion/viewmode/pan fixes doesn't work). I panicked a few times early in my Skyrim adventure and just stepped back a save and tried to avoid that encounter on the next loop, either by escape or dodge or murdering it (the enemy) to death first. (or using that "shield" thing some people swear by

Some people like to "play by the rules" and would consider that too great a cheat.  And I can respect that stance. Based on previous interactions over the past 3 years, although I'm not 100% positive, I doubt Blue Gunk is unaware of the console cheat that I outlined before you reiterated it.
