RowanSkie Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Here's what happens. Everytime I played a game, aka Skyrim, or Fallout 4, my speakers/headphones would go buzz, my monitor would shut down, then sometimes the sound returns to normal, though everything is unresponsive. Guest Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Check your system temperature, maybe you don't have enough cooling and your cpu/gpu is overheating. Good news is: a simple software can show you that info, so checking this is free. Bad news: if your system is indeed overheating, depending on the parts of your computer that require attention you would need to buy additional components (for example thermal paste for the cpu, additional fans for air cooling or check if you need to replace the liquid cooler, if you have a liquid cooler). Changing the place around your computer may help a bit (don't place it below/inside a desktop or similar furniture, don't put things on top/sides of it and so on). A general cleaning session should help too.

I was weirded out when it did the same thing there. 4 hours ago, Sternum said: Check your system temperature, maybe you don't have enough cooling and your cpu/gpu is overheating. Reginald_001 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 I always propose the 'check your audio card' angle. 9 out of 10 times this is not the cause... yet in 1 in 10 cases it is. The angles to always cover are: - Deinstall all your drivers in safe mode, then reinstall them with the latest versions. - Check the Event Viewer for application or system errors. That often leads to a good root cause: Type 'eventvwr' in your start menu and it should show the event viewer. Go into all the logs, system, application, etc..etc.. if you find errors at the same time of your crashes, those are the ones indicating the root cause.
Sneaksmile Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 In the case of Skyrim there are Mod-Patches that help to solve that and help to stabilize the game a lot, they fix CTDs, unknow problems, infinite lags, etc. If it only happens to you with Bethesda games then it is not a problem of your computer but of the games, although it sounds like a driver or audio card problem.

It's not limited to Skyrim, I crashed on my Resident Evil 2 Remake so... I'm guessing it's a PSU too. The audio's fine, like I said, it returns to normal, playing whatever it was on a loop. The mouse, keyboard, and monitor doesn't respond, though.

Some drivers are a pain in the ass, they seem to be fine but when you do something '' wrong '' they stop working. Sometimes I have problems with the Xbox controller driver. Sometimes the game in which I am playing, stops completely, the only option is to go to the Desktop, then disable the damn driver and re-enable it, that solves the problem. I would advise you to update your drivers with Driver Booster, maybe that solves the problem unless it is very specific problem.

By the way, these crashes require me to hard restart. EDIT: It didn't work. My PC did get faster, however.

Some time ago I had that kind of random freezing, my solution was to disable the AMD control of fans in the Bios and leave only the default original fan control of the Bios working, and my PC never frozen again. I do not know if you know how to configure the Bios of your PC, but you should try to do any available solution, sometimes the least thought solves things.
