ChancellorKremlin Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Has anybody else ever gotten this, when you start the game, on the main menu, your mouse is all "wobbly?" I can't think of another word to describe it, its not so much "laggy" as it is like trying to move your mouse cursor through jelly. Sometimes it happens, sometimes not. Not noticed any impact on the game itself, but wondering what makes it happen.
Ark of Truth Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 It sounds like your mouse is trying to control something behind the screen. It could be due to not enough RAM or graphics rendering RAM as well. Some mods can have this effect also. I believe there is a Skyrim thread on here with the same problem which may prove helpful.
ChancellorKremlin Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 I can guaranteed you 100% it is definitely not RAM or graphics related. I don't know why, but its started to happen recently, and just goes away of its own accord. Thanks for the help though.
Rogue13 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Hi Chancellor, I had had this issue in the past and solved it by updating my mouse drivers. If you can't get drivers specifcally for your mouse, you can try changing the settings in windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Change-mouse-settings Make the mouse easier to use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Make-the-mouse-easier-to-use Also refer: Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly
DoctaSax Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 You can turn that off by adding some lines to your ini, see: http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/new-vegas-tweak-guide#19 (go to the 'control' section of the guide if the link doesn't you take there automatically) Haven't tried it myself though. Will do eventually, the mouse always bugs me in menus.
ChancellorKremlin Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Thanks guys. I think there may actually be something wrong with my memory. I've been typically getting anywhere from 1-5 blue screens of death a day lately, ranging from anything from "paged fault in non-paged area" or "IRQ equal or less than 1" or "memory management" and so forth. I ran a memtest earlier today and immediately errors were reported. I'm beginning to think one of my 4gb stick (or more, I have four) is malfunctioning, and this is causing the issues. It may even explains the low FPS I've been getting in Fallout. Why can't things ever be simple!
DoctaSax Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Because just when you have your software exactly right, your hardware dies on you.
