Strelky Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I know nothing about other than its the next version of windows Hooray for obviousness!
gregathit Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 If you are running Win7 then there is no real reason to upgrade at this time. Give it a year and let them work out all the bugs and then check it out. Unless you just have loads of time and cash it isn't all that important or advantageous to upgrade.
Ashal Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 It's only 15 dollars to upgrade, you might as well I say, as that upgrade price won't last much longer. It's not as bad as people claim. I mean, the start menu is useless, but I never use it anyway and spend 99% of my time never seeing it. Just press windows key and type the name of the program, hit enter, done. The desktop improvements are more than worth the 15 dollars it cost imo.
Strelky Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 I may just have to consider upgrading then. It sounds pretty good from what you say and I've got $600 to waste. Thanks
Strelky Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Hmm, that definitely changed my mind, I think Ill wait for a friend to buy it
Guest Lady Luck Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 wait till next year guys , when windows 8 updated actual version services pack 1 , then we got real os , windows 8 is still beta.
gregathit Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 wait till next year guys ' date=' when windows 8 updated actual version services pack 1 , then we got real os , windows 8 is still beta. [/quote'] Well, the $15 dollar price has me thinking now that Ashal mentioned it. I think I will buy but not install it. That way I have it but am not burdened by the bugs. Then after I am reasonably certain that it doesn't have any serious flaws and it will run all of my games then install it. Win, win scenario. Ashal, what type of improvements have you noticed?
Ashal Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Windows 8 works perfectly fine, the desktop is noticeably faster and improved. I've experienced 0 bugs that are at the fault of Windows itself. You can buy the upgrade now for $15, don't let people who've bought into the senseless hate train make you wait and have to spend $100 on the upgrade later when the promotions gone :/
Strelky Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 I think im going to do exactly as Greg does. But still wait for a friend to buy it and I'll use from his computer
Ashal Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 And some people consider this trivial, but I think it's still a good measurement for performance improvements. I have Windows installed on an SSD, from cold boot to fully loaded desktop it would take Windows 7 a little over a minute, Windows 8 it takes 25 seconds tops.
gregathit Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Looks like the $15 upgrade is now $40, at least from what I can figure out from the Microsoft homepage. I am assuming the version to get would be the Pro right? Ok, I found the $15 dollar deal but it is only for folks who purchased a new computer between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013.

Ashal, what type of improvements have you noticed? i have day one windows 8 actual oem , when it first release in LA [ cost 20$ bucks on actual release before it went cheap] few of the people got it , some decide not to got it so many people complain that this os is buggy some games didnt work right , fps is everywhere direct x 11.1 is still beta, for an ati user this os works great its fast its stable less BSOD , like i said wat for next year an actual update that cost you guys 258mb Service pack 1 another 100 mb for kb security hotfix then we all got reason to get it , if you got it know you end up disappointed. why i said don't buy early hackers are active hacking windows 8 , some one loss his credit card account , because of the security so weak its even weaker then linux on beta version.
Strelky Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Eh? From all this good and I'm hearing i figure it would be a good idea to buy and test myself

[/quote'] they do absolutely no checking to see if you actually bought it this year. Just say you bought a dell in july in that form and they'll give you the coupon code for the 15 dollar upgrade.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I don't have the 15 and the RC was junk' date=' but that's just my opinion. @imaclock Don't go by what I wrote, I had a bad time with win 8 RC and I see no reason to change from Win 7 since it runs well on my machine. What works for one person may or may not work for another, all machines are different. I do believe it is wrong of Microsoft to charge for using Internet Explorer on the Xbox360 and more then likely only a matter of time before they bring those charges to the PC if they can figure a way to do so. (to use IE on the xbox you have to have a gold membership, which means monthly payments). [/quote'] I'd LOL so fucking hard if Microsoft charged for IE usage on the PC, because Firefox/Chrome would demolish it utterly, and likely at least SOME computer manufactures would start pre-installing one or both of them on computers too. wait till next year guys ' date=' when windows 8 updated actual version services pack 1 , then we got real os , windows 8 is still beta. So pay while it's cheap and wait, let people unable to learn from the history of Microsoft operating systems be the ones to pay and beta test. Sorta like a Bethesda game, it's not finished until a while after it comes out, when they bother to start patching. But yeah, that plan makes sense.

Sorta like a Bethesda game, it's not finished until a while after it comes out, when they bother to start patching. But yeah, that plan makes sense. Err. You really don't know how beta testing works for an OS or for software, do you? No software is ever complete. This much is the truth despite you yapping on Bethesda and Microsoft doing this as beta for everyone. Every single software company has faults in their software. It's just that most are good at masking it (*looks at Codemasters in general*). Honestly, having a company that can patch your software is better than a company that does sweet fuck all which makes you wonder if you're doing the testing instead. I suppose the reason why you think that is because of "oh, it's in their nature". Fair enough, but actually do some testing and you'll be shocked at how much shit that goes fucking wrong.
gregathit Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 ROFL!!!!! I freaking love that movie: Ok, put this one in your mouth, this one in your butt and this one under your arm. Ummmm..... No wait [pulls them back] put this one in your mouth, this one in your butt and this one under your arm. Are the USBP (Universal Butt-Plug) connectors under development yet????
Strelky Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 From I've learned Windows 8 it is trying to connect your devices with your computer.(I.e. tablets, phones, laptops, consoles, etc.) This update is mainly for me than any of you. But I hope I informed someone.
