Nobody else can. "I should get it for free". Cute.

They work hard to create stuff for us. Yet as an "OLD FART" I can sympathize just from looking at my music collection. Many long years ago bought music on vinyl records (albums), a few years later I bought the same music again on tape so I could take it with me. A number of years go by and the technology changes (CDs), I have to once again re-buy some music I already purchased twice. Along comes the digital age now I have to buy each individual song for my MP3 player. The point being why should I have to purchase the same item repeatedly (3 or 4 times) when it's original iteration hasn't broke or stopped functioning. In recent years the "record player" has seen a resurgence in popularity so buying a replacement is now a viable option and my original vinyl is once again accessible to me (there were a number of years where finding a record player was nigh on impossible and highly expensive).

I get that you are trying to be empathetic, but that really isn't the topic at play here. The file hasn't changed format. snivymaid paid for something and received it. It was lost through no fault of the author. Your analogy to the music industry misses the mark, in my opinion. A more apt analogy would be: If you buy a non-digital good and lose it in a house fire, the creator isn't entitled to provide you another copy free of charge. If Komotor provides another copy of the animation, that's great. If not, that is their right. (Edited to soften the language. Wasn't my intent to be hostile. Also an old fart, and was sad when the only record player I could find didn't have a setting for 45.)
