Wow132666 Posted April 14, 2019 Posted April 14, 2019 I have already checked the AAF troubleshooting post, and though it had alot of information, I either missed it or did not have anything about this. AAF completely stopped working and I don't believe I changed anything to cause this. Pressing the home button no longer opens the menu, and AAF Violate and AAF SEU don't play any animations after surrendering/prostitution/flirting/etc. The only thing that I could think of that might be causing it was me installing the "Build High - Expanded Settlements 5.0" mod but I'm fairly certain that I had an animation in between when I installed it and when it broke. Help is appreciated...

Help is appreciated... I've had this happen every now and then myself. Usually its just a broken save that happened and reloading a save from previous in your game will usually fix the problem. I've even had it happen where the top 3-4 saves wont start up the AAF loading then the 5th will. Just look for a save where it last worked and you should see it load up properly again. Â This is a Bethesda game- Save and save often then save again. This game is buggy with no mods. Lol 1
Wow132666 Posted April 14, 2019 Author Posted April 14, 2019 I do save ALOT to the point where I have to delete saves because I have so many saves that it lags my game. But alas the first save with AAF working is a whole 5 hours of progress back, so I'd like to know if there is any other way of fixing it.

It would probably involve picking a save where it doesn't work, then try to figure out why and what mod it could be and so on and so on. At the end of the day probably not worth it. The saves are probably broken. If you could remember what mods you added and when for any particular save (point in the game) maybe you could go from there but once again probably wouldn't be easy. Did you do the most obvious one and try to get rid of "Build High" mod and check some different saves?  Other than that probably just have to bite the bullet sort of speak and be glad you have a save that still has AAF working properly. Lol

The contents of the data folder in the f4se archive were no longer present on my computer. downloaded the archive again and dragged the data folder over, aaf works for me now oh my god thank you, I finally got it working. I fixed mine a little differently, but thank you for showing me it is still possible. I had checked the folder titled "AAF" in the scripts folder and mysteriously the folder was empty. I redownloaded AAF which caused the folder to be full again but it still wasn't working.I then dragged all the f4se stuff in my fallout directory again and loaded my "New Female" save file (which is right before the exit of the vault) and it showed the "AAF is installed!" message. I had my hopes up and went to my *glitched* save but AAF still wasnt working. I then disabled AAF, launched the save without it, saved over it, and then reenabled AAF, and it worked! Thank you for the help as now I did not lose 20 hours of progress on that save. 1

I have AAF installed on my main game but don't really use it all that much. I wouldn't even really care if it stopped working on my main game as that game is where I'm doing all my building and I'd be damned if I was going to lose all I have done cause AAF stopped working. Lol. Whenever I feel like messing around with AAF I usually just go to one of my other games. They are really handy for testing new mods also to make sure theyre not going to mess up your important saves. I never introduce a mod into my main game no matter what it is unless Ive tried and tested it first in one of my dummy games. I learnt the hard way too many times previous. Lol

Maybe an issue with your mod manager, virus protection or even hardware issues.  But, deleting mods, saving and re-installing them like that can potentially break saves. Just FYI.

I think that issue does catch a lot of users.  There is a built-in F4SE check in AAF test builds. So, when that gets released it should help. 17 hours ago, chinbobble said:  as to whats deleting files im too a bit bamboozled .. first time trying vortex here so im inclined to wonder if that's a culprit. I did have dropped files using NMM in the past but never deleted files. so definitely a suspicion on vortex from me  I know for the rest of the build im going to use vortex to install and enable mods but then do a manual install of everything over the top of it   I haven't used Vortex. So, wouldn't know. NMM caused some difficult-to-fix issues for me.

Its not Vortex. 1
Guest Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 What worked for me was to uncheck all AAF related mods, make a save, turn them back on and re-sort with LOOT and it works again.
limu11 Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 @Wow132666 I rarely post here but your information just saved literally a full playthrough from going in the bin thank you!
