You can still use it just don't use any armors that have cloth physics. Deathshell runs just fine with HDT PE alone far as I can tell. But equip any other armor with cloth physics and it may either crash the game or obviously not work at all. So, stay away from using things with skirts, loincloths, capes etc. Any skin hugging outfits without anything like that will work fine. Another example that would work fine is Viridinium (the dark gray sort of "bat/dragon" themed armor).
