boozbbzb Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 haven't played skyrim in over 6 years, but i wanted to try modding it for the first time ever, does anyone have the time to help
Guest Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 OK, first of all get a mod manager. Mod Organizer is still one of the best for Skyrim LE. Then get SKSE, install it. Get FNIS, install it. Get SkyUI, install it. Then will depend on what type of mods you want. In case you wants nudes and sex, gets the following mods: A nude body: CBBE for example A nude body for males: Schlongs of Skyrim SexLab framework.
boozbbzb Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 are all mods usable on SE or are only a limited ported amount

boozbbzb Posted March 2, 2019 Author Posted March 2, 2019 is the general consensus that the originial is just better for mods because that's where they mostly are?

Yeah, I recommend using the original. Almost all mods here are made for the original version, only some have been ported to SE.

This is LoversLab - there is no consensus on anything (even on whether there is a consensus on anything). That being said I personally agree with all the advice that you've received thus far. LE is superior (at the current time) for 2 reasons: 1) there are more mods available and 2) there is more support for those mods. If you're just getting started let me recommend that you look at Donttouchmethere's blog: "Conglomerate." I'll try to post the link but, with the way the site is at the moment it might cause me to crash. The blog is by an experienced mod user who, as he says, needed to redo his Skyrim from scratch and posted every step that he took. If you follow in his footsteps you should be able to get a stable game.
Kishuna Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Just weighing in my two cents on LE vs. SE. SE has quite a few built-in perks, but we know more about LE, and LE is more supported, in a sense. A lot of LE mods have zero issues being converted to SE, but some have no shared conversion, so you would have to look up how to do it yourself. Personally, many of my "staple" mods are on LE, and it's simply easier for me. Personal preference, no official consensus on that matter, but hope that helps. For Mod Managers, I recommend Mod Organizer 2, but it slightly daunting when you first open it. I have used Vortex, but personal experience, last update messed something up and I decided to switch. That being said, it is the official mod manager of Nexus. NMM (Nexus Mod Manager) is deprecated, no longer supported, but some people still swear by it, and it'll get the job done, but I can't recommend using it this late onto the modding scene.
