Could someone please tell me how do I tell what is normal map, diffuse, subsurface and specular maps in my data folder for skin textures? Asking cause I want to try and recreate this one combined skin texture I saw for UNP but for CBBE instead. Thank you in advance!
Redswift Posted February 20, 2019 Posted February 20, 2019 femalebody_1.dds is the diffuse map, the texture itself femalebody_1_msn.dds is the normal map femalebody_1_s.dds is the specular map femalebody_1_sk.dds these contain sub surface details The other body parts follow suit of course, femalehands_1.dds diffuse, femalehands_1_msn.dds normal map etc...

jaeos Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 i know this could be considered a dead thread. but that does each one do? specular? sub surface details? would you explain a little better? the trhreads i have found use really big words. could you dumb it down for someone educated in bottom tier public school system? (with a 1986 dictionary in hand)
yatol Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 On 5/13/2019 at 6:41 AM, jaeos said: the trhreads i have found use really big words aren't there sites that show what each do with images? femalebody_1.dds is the diffuse map, the texture itself femalebody_1_msn.dds is the normal map lighting texture, blue and green get full light, the rest get less light head arm and leg shadow it's crappy msn you try your luck when you don't know how to make msn it's lighting that simulate fake muscles, or others things no scale on that mesh, it's the msn femalebody_1_s.dds is the specular map it's the wet texture, black = nothing white = shining not the same black & white texture those body parts eye _s have much more white than the rest femalebody_1_sk.dds these contain sub surface details color texture, your orc is green because green is load on the texture that's the npc tintmasks (lips eye and whatever color on that head texture, so can't just load a color on it) npc folder was untick for crap kit to not overwrite it npc behind irileth have no head nif , so game have generate one with femalehead.nif that don't come with that npc tintmask, so body color isn't the same as head color if you load crap kit with 2k tintmasks, you get a red bar inside the color map, you have that red bar on those heads that lip tintmask is smaller than the lips, not everything get the color
