lambient1988 Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 Hello, So I finally settled for 'Dat Grass' Skyrim Mod as it gives good dense green grass at barely any loss of performance. However, doesn't matter what values I put in my INI files, grass loads only to a minimal distance. Look at the screenshot: Skyrim.ini: [Grass] bAllowCreateGrass=1 bAllowLoadGrass=0 bDrawShaderGrass=1 fGrassFadeRange=30000 iGrassCellRadius=2 iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=15 iMinGrassSize=20 SkyrimPref.ini [Grass] b30GrassVS=0 fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=30000.0000 fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=0.0000 fGrassStartFadeDistance=30000.0000 Even with such high values, grass is not loading far away. Is it possible that Dat Grass itself doesn't allow grass to be loaded that far away? Or is there something wrong with my INI files? Can Skyrim's grass limit be pushed further than it's upper limit?
worik Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 Why dont you try to ask the author directly https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31070/?tab=posts Fun aside : "Last active 13 Aug 2018 4:23AM " says it all Quote Is it possible that Dat Grass itself doesn't allow grass to be loaded that far away? I would say: YES, it is possible. But you would need to look into the esp to be sure what he/she really did.

Does anything seem wrong in those INI files? Or is the screenshot the max possible grass distance?
worik Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 Since it is advertised as an FPS killer, at least I would have embedded limits in the esp.

I would hardly call that grass mod a FPS killer. With iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=15 iMinGrassSize=20 I agree that my FPS dropped from 70 to 60. 70 was with no grass. Since my monitor has a max refresh rate of 60, I am fine with 60. But at the same settings, other grass mods simply killed off my FPS to 30 or so. So compared to others, Dat Grass would not completely classify as a FPS killer. I just tested other grass mods. What I have shown in the screenshot is the max grass load limit in Skyrim. So I am pretty sure it's not embedded in the ESP. But I want to go further. Can I break Skyrim's max load limit? (Changing uGrids doesn't help).
Grey Cloud Posted February 10, 2019 Posted February 10, 2019 Have you looked at the S.T.E.P. guide's section on grass?

After further analysis I can say that the screenshot I have shared is the maximum distance of grass that I can load. I was wondering if I could break that limit.

I doubt it will do anything though, it's probably hard-coded to a max value somewhere. I'm gearing up for a new game so I will give Dat Grass a go if I remember.
