RebelInfernal Posted January 20, 2019 Posted January 20, 2019 So this is my own fault for being an idiot, but I've accidentally deleted the update.esm from Mod Organizer. I was changing the weights of a few items in TESVEdit and when I closed it I saw an update.esm in the overwrite folder, for some reason decided it was a backup copy and deleted it. Now I have no update.esm in MO, a bunch of plugins are flagging a missing master and I can't figure out how to get it back. I have an update.bsa and .esm in C/Program Files86/Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim/Data and the vanilla game opens fine from here, but MO is set up inside Documents/steam games/SteamApps/common/Skyrim. The Data file in this filepath has an update.bsa dated earlier than the Program Files version, and no esm. I've tried validating the game files in Steam, which tells me one file failed to validate and will be reacquired but every time I validate nothing actually changes and the same result occurs again. I have no idea how to fix this, is it safe to simply copy the more recent update.esm into the Data file or should I reinstall the entire game or something else?
RebelInfernal Posted January 20, 2019 Author Posted January 20, 2019 Never mind, solved it. For some reason TESVEdit still had an update.esm in the load list, I just had to tick it, modify a record and the master file plus a backup appeared inside MO's overwrite folder. It seems to have taken the master file from the Data folder in Program files, and it's now inside the mod list pane in MO as well rather than just the plugins pane like it used to be. Sorry for the premature post moderators!
