bloodborne69 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 i have this problem with skyrim where one save, the armor appears but another save the armor is hidden. so if during the game, the armor is shown, then i saved, when i load that save the armor is not shown, and if i save again in this new save with no armor shown, this new save will have the armor reappear. is this a overlay problem? the char is wearing at least 10 pieces of different equipment, if they overlay it should be fine help please and thank you
donttouchmethere Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 10 pieces of different equipment ? if you use DDi than you could check if the device hider is active via Devious Devices MCM if you deactivate the device hider your missing armor parts should show up again and stay

RW311 Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 If armors share the same visible slot assignment but don't have actual slots conflicting in the nif file and the priority settings are matched you will have this issue.

"...if they overlay it should be fine" Forgive me, but what are you talking about? And what armor mod do you have that has 10 pieces of equipment or is this something you made up? If the slot partitions are set correctly in the nifs and match what's called out for in an .esp, armor parts aren't going to disappear, then simply reappear. Perhaps you're leaving out some details because what you're describing doesn't make any sense to me.
RW311 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Longer explanation..... You have a chest piece, it's armor settings are for slot 32 only and it's priority is 15 but in the armor addon for that chest piece you have assigned slot 53 for it to occupy that it doesn't actually use in the nif so you can hide anything using slot 53 from being visible, it wont' prevent the armor being equipped it just won't let anything in slot 53 show unless that armor has higher priority setting. But if the priority settings are matched for your chest piece and some leg armor of slot 53 armor settings, and you put on the chest then put on the slot 53 legs, the legs would show up but then you reload your save and now the game has decided that the legs are not going to show visible anymore probably just due to the order things were loaded. To fix it you either remove the slots from the armor addon list that aren't needed or used by the nif, if they are not listed in the armor then they probably don't need to be there, or you adjust the priority of the armors so the visible slot winners will not be in conflict.

Now that's pretty interesting and not aware of any of that. But I am a little curious as to why one would even do that?
RW311 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Well if you make a torso armor that covers alot of the body you want to be able to hide slots of other armors to prevent clipping but still allow them to be equipped, this includes things like necklaces or long gloves but most important would be for hiding head parts that can't be removed and equipped by the player,eg; hair and ears when wearing a hood. So what I think happens is a person d/l an assortment of modded armors and the modder probably made the armor sets and used copies of steel chest or whatever but doesn't change the visible slots or priority at all because it doesn't really do anything until you start combining it with another modded armors that did the same thing now you have a conflict of visible slots and priority.

RW311 Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 You mean like a z fighting issue? I don't think this is possible the visible slot is either on or off and if the armor is slot 32 the visible body mesh must be from that armor or you have no body mesh to add texture. More likely the problem you have is going to be in the body mesh of that armors nif. I won't say it's impossible but it would almost have to be done deliberately to cause equipped items to be reloaded rapidly.
