Red forehead and NPC hair color

Been trying to add one of my own OCs as an NPC to the game via the Creation Kit.  I've been somewhat successful.  Got my NPC to appear in the game but...with a few hiccups.

Here is what my NPC is supposed to look like.

And here is what the NPC actually looks like.

As you can see, I apparently didn't do something or did something wrong so the hair color didn't properly carry over.  As for the forehead...I've no idea what went wrong there.

I've been trying to do some research through Google but I'm coming up on empty when it comes to helpful fixes.  If anyone can offer me advice on how to fix this, I'd really appreciate it.  I use Mod Organizer if that impacts anything.

We can't see anything. To post an image, type [ spoiler ] without the spaces hit Return

Drag the image to the paperclip, give it a few seconds to appear, hit Return

Type [ /spoiler ] without the spaces but with the forward slash

Red (or brown) forehead likely means a corrupt face tint, the creation kit is pickier about faces then the game itself.  Fixing it depends on what piece of the face it does not like.

Some things to try is setting the Upper Eye Socket color to the skin color (recommended for Apachii hair) or if that doesn't work to zero.  If your using any face overlays (freckles/makeup/warpaint) with a higher quality then 256 try building the face in the kit without it or with a scaled down copy.

Very strange that you can't see anything.  I just updated my posts and made the pics attachments.

I'll try this.

I could only see two file names/placeholders. Now the two file names are still there but your images have appeared below your text. I've no idea how to fix your problem but it is a common one.

The forehead pic is working only the last two though.  This is happening because ck cannot load facetints textures anything higher than vanilla resolution. To make facegen from ck you will need to rename folder named tintmasks, look in data\textures\actor\character\character assets\tintmaks <rename this folder when editing npc face in ck.

This problem happens because of tintmasks. Before launching the Creation Kit you must first look in textures\actors\character\Character Assets\ and either move the tintmasks folder to another location on your hardrive or rename the folder. Launch the CK, check to see that the npc's forehead is normal, export the facegen with CTL+F4, close the CK and restore the tintmasks folder.

Custom hair colors are more complicated because the color must be created in the CK. It won't carry over from Racemenu to the CK.

The problem I've always had with situations like this is that people keep saying "go here to find this file/folder" but I never can.  I've looked in my Skyrim Data folder and no such string of folders exist.  The closest that I've found is this one.

Mod organizer\overwrite\TEXTURES\Actors\Character\FacegenData\tintmasks

I've tried renaming the tintmasks folder there but it made not difference in the CK.  I've even done a full search of my drive for anything with "Character Assets" in the game.  One such folder popped up for Fallout 4 (not helpful) and dozens from various mods in Mod Organizer/Mods but nothing relating to this.  Where am I supposed to turn to now?

You are likely begging for trouble if you are trying to use the CK through MO. If you want to work on mods just install them manually in Skyrim\Data and use the CK outside of MO. Pack your work using proper folder structure into a 7z file which you can then install with MO, and then delete the files from Skyrim\Data. This entire process will take a fraction of the time it could take to search online to find out if what you are trying to do is even possible in the first place.

Because Mod Organizer keeps things organized by keeping everything in its own folder you would need* to check each mod.  I would start with any player body or face effecting mods. For instance mine are in \Mod Organizer\mods\Calientes Beautiful Bodies Edition -CBBE-\textures\actors\character\character assets\tintmasks.

*You could make a mod with a dummy femaleuppereyesocket.dds and have MO check for conflicts if you know how to?
