legraf Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Every few minutes of gameplay - I haven't found any particular trigger, I think it's just periodic - I lose access to menus. Inventory, the tab menu for selecting spells... the keys do nothing. Hopping into the Player Control Center from zaz animation pack shows "No" beside menus, and "restore" fixes it back to "yes", no problem. But it reverts to "no" after some minutes. Is it possible to see what is triggering this, and so, kill it with fire? Unfortunately, because it came after a long period where I had no reason to try to open these menus, I'm trying to avoid re-loading. I don't know what brought this on, far into a game that's been going pretty well. Plus, of course, I'd like to learn to recognize how this happens. At the moment, I'm considering just writing a quick mod to give me hotkey access to flip that one switch, but I don't even know what the setting is called. donttouchmethere Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 there might be still a scene running on your PC from a mod SLdefeat likes to cause something like that open SLdefeat MCM and search there for a "clean defeat" option maybe that sloves your issue already if not, check if there is a reset/clean debug option in daymoyl if not, try all those debug options in mods, like DCL "free me", SLdefeat "clean" or other mods that can get control over your PC and have a release/reset/clean button and I just saw you have DfwSupport.esp installed, if a scene of this mod got stuck your in trouble if you don't want to fall back to an older save you could try the debug options of that mod tho. There is a scene where NPCs add a "padlock" if your sitting in furniture, even after you got freed from the furniture that scene never stops an might cause the issue you have atm and you could check your savegame for unfinished/broken scripts
legraf Posted January 13, 2019 Author Posted January 13, 2019 Good advice, dtmt, and though I'd tried resetting DCL just in case, it hadn't crossed my mind to check Defeat. Well, now I've reset that, and everything else that had anything like a reset or clear or clean (good point to check DFW Support too... I don't even remember why I have that anymore). Unfortunately, there's no change. Oh, yes, did check for flaky scripts in the save file, also no joy. Somewhere, something is resetting that "menu" option ... and nothing else obvious, for as far as I can see, everything else works fine. Thanks for the suggestions though! Now I'll have to see if I can't figure out how ZAP restores that menu option, and tie it to a hotkey.
donttouchmethere Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 the only two mods that come in mind is (if all is said and tried): > if a scene in POP with zaz involved got stuck (you could try and hit the POP ai reset key, and check on what keys you put POP surrender and POP ai reset, just in case you hit those accidently sometimes) > if a CD scene got stuck (maybe you find another debug option to stop a stuck scene) > SS+ scene got stuck (no idea how to slove that one) after that I'm out of options I had that issue a lot with CD and with DFW+DFWS and never found a good solution other than fall back to an older save gl with your hotkey tho =D

CD or SS have never had a chance to start scenes in this game - I have lots of naughty mods for the flexibility but odds set so low that very seldom do they get invoked. But I'll see what I can do with them too! My play is mostly quite vanilla, with some major exceptions! Anyway, I think I'll write a tiny quest that releases all player controls, and just invoke that from console - easier and less intrusive than messing with hotkeys. I'm just tired of scrolling all the way down to ZAP! But tilde-uparrow-enter-tilde, I can do that in a jiffy to salvage this game for a while longer. Thanks for the advice!

I should learn from that ? my poor PC is in a constant slavery loop great for testing LL mods, but you wont be able to do a lot of quests
