Squeeze Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Ok, this is going to sound odd and maybe I just don't know what I'm doing but I'm near the breaking point with these mods. I have had great success with Oblivion and the lovers packages and all other mods. There was a huge community with tons of content and plug ins with a ton of function and relative simplicity. 1 year later I've decided to move on from Oblivion to Skyrim. I began installing some mods today and I'm really pretty disapointed. It seems like 95% of the mods are just textures and clothing. I've searched the forums for a general state of mods thread but all I've gathered is that really nothing has been done in the way of functioning sex modes besides minilovers. I feel like the great modding community that put together Lovers for Oblivion has retired and no one is taking the reigns for Skyrim. FOr the mods I have installed, they seem to be incredibly more complicated than Oblivion. No more dragging and dropping .esp and .esm to the data folder, now I gotta run this crazy FNIS program with barely any instructions every time I install a new mod. Maybe someone can answer these questions I have. 1. I've activated MLA and all its extensions, but no one rapes each other. Is there not yet a skyrim version of Lovers Rapers yet? 2. FNIS just comes up with about 5 errors when I click update. It says it cant find any mods, yet i'm staring at the .esm files for all the lovers packages. 3. Is there still an active modding community outside the realm of cosmetic changes? Any answers or suggestions would be appreciated. I'm just afraid that there will never be the same amount of functioning and customizable lovers mods for skyrim than there were for oblivion. Sorry for the rant.
Chaosrains Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 You need to remember we just recently surpassed 1 year of Skyrim being released. It took years for the Lovers mods in Oblivion to get to where they are. Basically, adult mods for Skyrim are in their infancy and people are still learning animation and other such modding for Skyrim. Patience is a virtue.
ThatGuyJonus Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 the biggest detriment to the development of the adult oriented mods is the new animation system, havok behavior. The new system changed everything regarding the animation system and that is the reason for the FNIS program, without you wouldn't beable to run multiple animation mods together.
Bazzal Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Hello everybody. I am back after a couple years. Or has it only been a year and a half now? Around there anyways. I stopped doing this stuff cause I kept getting viruses from downloading lovers PK and other mods and kept blowing up my computer. Happened twice. Or on the second time anyways my motherboard blew up cause of my new video card. Now everything is fixed and new upgraded everything so everything runs smoothly. On another note on this Skyrim modding. Skyrim is going to take along time to rework everything. Oblivion was indeed a lot easier to work with, now with Skyrim the creators made it a little more complicated with files and whatever they changed. So in a couple years you'll see the modding galore of what Oblivion has. I will just wait till that time and then I can screw over Skyrim with gay werewolves having it gangam style with the populace!
cretin Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 So to sum up, 1. It's easier to animate in Oblivion 2. It's early in Skyrim's lifecycle Related to the above, Oblivion in 2007 was nowhere near what we have today for Skyrim one year on. So you might say that's all good, and time will deliver. However, (devil's advocate): the rapid development (within the space of just a couple weeks) of the few animations we have for minilovers was abandoned several long months ago, with no new animations in production or even hinted at, with several other animation projects (e.g. AP, ASX strip club / bordello & SSG) either missing checkpoints or just fading away from burnout. That doesn't mean some intrepid soul isn't slaving away on the Daedra Sutra for Skyrim, but I highly doubt that's happening at the moment without any screenshot leaks showing up here and there. IMHO our best bet is that the shadowy developer behind the new xLV development (I've heard a rumor it's the same minilovers author, but I doubt it as the programming style is very different) will turn to new animations once the core is stable, or someone new decides it's a worthy endeavor. I tried my hand at it, and realized I really didn't have the patience or time. I have a great appreciation for ANYONE who tackles animation in Skyrim. It really, really sucks.
Mud Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Well with the lackluster creation kit' date=' the inability to actually add animation without jumping thru a dozen hoops it will most likely take years to get anywhere. I believe it was a conscious decision made by bethesda to make it at the very least extremely difficult to add sexual content given all the pissing and whining about it over Oblivion and the Fallout's. I'm sure they at least listen to some fansite owners. [/quote'] That part's doubtful. Making animations hard to make in order to slow down the creation of adult mods would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater - it would make no sense to restrict the countless possibilities of family-friendly animations for quests or immersion and the like just to slow down a small community that makes 18+ animations. But yeah, like the others said, it's not like Oblivion had a complex, working version of Lovers one year after release, did it? I'd say that what the Skyrim community has accomplished by this point is pretty damn impressive.
remois Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 As for the havok behaviour system it must be easier on them for some reason... Honestly I don't think they sat around the table to discuss "How to screw a part of the comunity". The havok system was there, it was working so it reduced the developpement cycle meaning the game cost a little less to make since they didn't have to reprogram this part of the engine. Though it was a bit of a let down for the comunity, it was a design choice that has it's perk. To me the real poor design choice is the way scripts are handled... As for the adult modding and the annimation aspect in general, I think the work already don is great.

The animation restriction is so retarded that it doesn't just slow down sex mods but all modding regarding new animations and doing that on purpose would be plain dumb. I'm still running around with this boring ass vanilla combat animations and even though they are godlike compared to Oblivion's vanilla animations I don't really want to fall asleep while watching my character slice up enemies.
Squeeze Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 Thanks all for the replies. I realize now that my post was pretty rash and I probably should have done more research. None the less, I am excited to see where we go with Skyrim.
Jay1646 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Well if your so frustrated why don't you try learning how to make adult mods I'm sure everyone here would appreciate new modders
ThatGuyJonus Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Havok behavior was not intended to make it more difficult for modders, it just happens that its effectively a third party software to animate the game, and is very good at blending multiple actions into a single animation. The counter to this, as stated already, is that since it requires its on SDK it makes the whole system a pain in the ass. FNIS is so far the only system to make compatability "behaviors" for multiple animation mods, and is still very early in its own development.
Daguy Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Well, with all the different mini mods, we have quite the collections of animations at this point - including actuall lesbian animations *sniff* - so hopefully permissions will be gather at somepoint, and soemone will tie them all together in sex framework. As a small note to those using Oblivion at this poitn in its life; Oblivion had a lot of modders in Morrowind, but a good portion of them STAYED with Morrowind. And Oblivion is what made Elder Scrolls a AAA title. The modding community and their expertise coming from Oblivion to Skyrim can't be compared with Morrowind to Oblivion. Skyrim has caught up with Oblivion in every modding area that doesn't require animations, and even some that have them. The reason we don't have a Skyrim framework yet (as there are now animations there) is that people want to make stand alone sex mods (read: each and every one so far of which few, if any, are still even active).
BruceWayne Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Lovers for Oblvivion took 4 or 5 years(!) to appear (at least in english, I don't know how long it existed in japanese before that). It was difficult in the beginning of Oblivion modding too, to have new animations in the game, because for the lack of tools. My guess is that fully functional sex systems like Sexout or Lovers will start coming after the last DLC and the last update for Skyrim is released. Not immediately, but that will be most likely the turning point for modders to have a stable system that doesn't get overthrown by updates an patches. And I'd be hard pressed to believe that Beth actually cares about sex mods at all. I think as long as it stays in the realm of legality, they don't care. And having an animation system in Skyrim, like it has now, is actually a vast improvement over what was there before in Oblivion and Fallout. The only thing that's making it difficult at the moment, is the lack of tools to penetrate the system used. FNIS is a step in the right direction, but this system will only work as long as Fore is willing to maintain it. And once a better solution is found (if ever), there will be a shitload of incompatible mods, using old and new ways to implement new animations. So, my guess is, that it will take probably until Fallout 4 is out and then some, to have a somewhat stable and user-friendly framework. I'd like to see it earlier too, but I won't hold my breath. And by the way, complaining about it being not here fast enough, won't make it appear earlier. The only thing this will achieve, is having many unfinished mod projects, because mod authors are getting tired of impatient players, that don't understand what kind of work is required to make something like this even possible.
Daguy Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I imagine impatient players are annoying, but to be fair they also present an 'easy' excuse to stopping a project that has run out of steam too. What sounds better when you don't want to continue working on a mod that you are no longer enthusiastic for? "I just can't summon up the enthusiasm to keep working on it, sorry people." Or "Damn it! I'm putting a lot of work into this, time and effort, and all I get are impatient complaints and requests. You know what? I'm done. Make it yourselves if my work isn't good enough." Heh. At the end of the day impatient people and trolls don't actually do anything, unless you let them. If they get under the skin its because the bait was taken. And even then, the impatient ones are just enthusiastic about a project, which should be flatering. Words on a web forum can be happily ignored, completely, with no real world consequences. Especially when there are generally five supportive posts to every oen complaint/whiner. However, their greatest service is offering a 'get out (of project with rep intact) free' card. I'm not saying that this is all that happens, far from it as there are some obnoxious dicks out there, but i'm certain this DOES happen. Often. Its human nature to blame others, especially faceless others, than admit percieved failure. And there are dickish modders out there too. Providing a mod for free doesn't make someone immune to being a bell end. Some get trolled for their own attitude, as opposed to anything to do with the mods. Nothing stranger than folk. In this case, I think its less the guy was complaining, as noting what I have. Sure, people may want to let the DLC settle and such. None the less - everyone who has tried to mod sex in has done it in a 'my way' manner, and many have fallen through. Thats just fact. What is rather sad, especially on this forum where we are united under the banner of adult mods, is that we (royal 'we' that is) haven't united to even formt he groundwork. Sexout is a perfect example. The framework was built for the community to work with, not to power any one massive ro overly ornate mod, and then the community banded together and churned plugin after plugin out. Ego, whiny fans, and so forth is really besides the point.
BruceWayne Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 All I was trying to say was, that Rome wasn't built in a day... I wasn't even implying that OP is a troll, I just wanted to point out that "complaining" won't do any good. Hell, the whole reason I've read this thread was, because I've noticed the thread title and was "irritated" (for the lack of a better word)... Excuses to quit a mod half way through are plenty. But that really wasn't my point. The current Skyrim situation most likely won't change in the near future, until some modding overlords will take the helm and steer the framework ship to shores of greatness and there is a generally easier solution to the animation situation. Until then, there is nothing else to do but wait or become a modding overlord yourself. I see some great mods from our Skyrim contributors here, who undoubtedly have put a lot of time and effort in their mods. I don't know who here has played the very first adult mods for Oblivion and Fallout, but those were nowhere near in complexity and stability at the same point in the games life cycle, compared to what is already available for Skyrim.
Daguy Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Oh, I agree, and never accused you of anything. I was simply musing out loud, after seeing other threads go that way.
fore Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 FNIS is a step in the right direction' date=' but this system will only work as long as Fore is willing to maintain it. And once a [i']better [/i]solution is found (if ever), there will be a shitload of incompatible mods, using old and new ways to implement new animations. Very intersting discussion here, so I could not but chip my two cents in. I agree very much with what you have written. There are just 2 points that I don't see that pessimistic. FNIS will work as long as Skyrim exists, even if I would stop working on it. Unless Beth will drastically change it's internal behavior structures, which is quite unlikely, the FNIS generated behavior files will work in 5 years as they work today. The only change that needs to be done are the adaptations of 3 files to new skyrim behavior file versions. This happened 3 times in the last 8 months, and this frequency will decrease over the years. And these changes are relatively simple, and other modders know how to do it. In fact, xp32 has made her own 0_master, as well as updated the templates for the default(fe)male files. So basically, someone like her could take over. I had no objection if a better solution would be found. Actually I would be happy to get back to my real passion and continue NoMaaM animations. Each new system should be able to allow migration in a few minutes. And/or have a patch system which allows to integrate FNIS, like FNIS integrates other animation mods.
BruceWayne Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Well, that's good news! And your solution is obviously a little stroke of genius, if you don't mind me saying. I was under the impression, that this system isn't as flexible as you make it ought to be. But I gladly stand corrected in this case.. After all the Skyrim modding community is way larger now, than it ever was for Fallout or Oblivion (or any game, other than the sims maybe). So it brings up a lot of new blood, in terms of capable modders who can fill in the roles of the infamous "unknown japanese modder(s)" or all the good people on this board, who are driving the development of own systems and/or translations of existing systems forward. Maybe my view on fullblown frameworks with new animations was indeed a little too "grim". But, still, I won't hold my breath for the foreseeable future.
ttpt Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Yeah, by the time lovers was even a thing for oblivion I had played the game so much I was pretty much burned out on it. Sexout for comparison came pretty soon, but there were 2 or 3 other sex mods before it that weren't nearly as powerful. I never really gave lovers a try because setting it up is much more complicated than sexout. In my view, several people working on their own sex mods right now is fine, minilovers is surprisingly stable, much better than early versions of oblivion sex mods. And jbezorg on the sanguine mod has mentioned he might split his work into a framework eventually. I don't even see the current lack of animations as a big deal, since once you have a mod that works with 2 or 3 animations it's easily scalable to include 5, 10, or 20 animations. And FNIS is just an amazing tool, I still remember how people were crying like it was the end of the world that you couldn't add new animations and just look where we are now. FNIS is also really easy to use, so complaining that you have to run a tool that does everything automatically when reinstalling mods is silly. It's like complaining that you have use the SKSE launcher. Hell I just came back from mastercchris' arachnophobia thread and it looks incredible.
Queen Bee Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I am equal parts encouraged and impatient when it comes to Skyrim mods. On the one hand, I love what people have come out with in just a year. Good god, just look at what they have to offer on the Steam Workshop and the Nexus. And the adult mods here are pretty good, even if we don't yet have the complexity Oblivion mods offer (which I have never gotten to work anyway, so oh well there). On the other hand, I want my damn sex mods already. I want to rape/be raped. I want to enslave or be enslaved. I want to be whored out for gold. I want to be captured by trolls and used and abused until they decide to eat me. I want a harem of followers to fuck whenever I want. I want...well, a lot of dark stuff I probably don't need to mention. I want them, and I want them now. But wanting them now isn't going to make them happen any faster. It'll happen. Sooner or later, it'll all happen. In the meantime, I'm enjoying what I got, and I'll stick around until I get what I want.
Daguy Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Yeah' date=' by the time lovers was even a thing for oblivion I had played the game so much I was pretty much burned out on it. [/quote'] This, a thousand times this. It took a year for me to even feel like playing Oblivion with the sex mods. Thats why, aside from 200 hours of tinkering (which is nothing compared to my several thousand hours in Oblivion) i've not really played Skyrim. Not seriously. In my view' date=' several people working on their own sex mods right now is fine, minilovers is surprisingly stable, much better than early versions of oblivion sex mods. And jbezorg on the sanguine mod has mentioned he might split his work into a framework eventually.[/quote'] The problem with several different community members splitting to do their work (though don't get me wrong, they are their own people and I don't begrudge them it, i'm just stating my opinion) is that they arn't thinking of the big picture. Those same mods could have been made on a framework they built as a team, or even individuals, and be no worse off, while people could have been building off that framework and much better off. Its just as much about compatiblity as it was progress. Lovers (and Sexout) mods all working from the same ESM allowed them to be for the most part compatible, unless they used/esited the same NPCs, and then it just came down to load-order as opposed to outright crashing. The mods we have for Skyrim, well, compatibility isn't stellar. Minilovers is one of my hopes, along with the various new screenshots that turn up ont he image boards, that the ever perverted modders from across the ocean will provide once again. I truly hope jbezorg does so at some point, as the sanguine mod is uterly awesome and tempts me into Skyrim, even as I try to resist. I don't even see the current lack of animations as a big deal' date=' since once you have a mod that works with 2 or 3 animations it's easily scalable to include 5, 10, or 20 animations. FNIS is also really easy to use, so complaining that you have to run a tool that does everything automatically when reinstalling mods is silly. It's like complaining that you have use the SKSE launcher. [/quote'] FNIS is cool. Onto the animatons though; there arn't actually as few as people seem to assume. There are at least a dozen, and while that may not be the hundreds from a oblivion, they are for the most part fantastic quality and well aligned (aside from the AP ones, which are no worse than many Oblivion had.) I am equal parts encouraged and impatient when it comes to Skyrim mods. On the one hand' date=' I love what people have come out with in just a year. Good god, just look at what they have to offer on the Steam Workshop and the Nexus. And the adult mods here are pretty good, even if we don't yet have the complexity Oblivion mods offer. Sooner or later, it'll all happen. In the meantime, I'm enjoying what I got, and I'll stick around until I get what I want. [/quote'] *sniff* Its... it so true. Thing is, the original (base) Lovers plugin wasn't that complex. (Beyond me, yes, but thats because I can't script at all.) It was a master file that bound the animations together, with options for speeding up sex, and what the characters wore, and a single line of 'shall we have sex?'. THEN it was built upon, and became complex over the years. We could HAVE a rape plugin. All that happened was the script that was started by conversation was triggered by a spell or combat variable, and one of the 'rougher'/Dominent looking animations was given prioroity. Sadly, its easy for me to say, but i'm no scriptor. The tech/tools are actually there for the framework of a lovers like system to be created, but the community just hasn't banded together, as there is is no Loogie in this section of the forum with his enthusiasm and drive, nor a Prideslayer to go forwards with the basic frame. FNIS fixed the animation problem. There are at least a dozen animations out there, between ASX, Mini Lovers, AP, and those from the russain site that were released before the modding tools. These anmations are lesbian (tribbing and eating and fingering) straight (missonary, bj, doggy [a fantastic one, at that from ASX], riding, backwards riding, masturbation, and varients. Sure, there wouldn't be the creature sex, but that could come in time. But we haven't united yet. THATS when things will happen, not when some mythical advancement comes along. Still, i'm just musing on all this, as personally i'm not all that bothered. I've got other games and RL interests atm, that are stopping me from doing anything but stopping by curiously occasionally. I'm also not going to play Skyrim even if a fully functional Lovers/Sexrim fell straight out of the sky. I'm waiting til all the DLC has been released, as I want al my playthroughs to be on a 'complete' game.
Snazzishoez Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 You need to remember we just recently surpassed 1 year of Skyrim being released. I didn't start playing Oblivion till about a year ago. I don't know how quickly or long it took to get all their mods, but I'm guessing what they have now took more than a year. I don't know much about what they use for Fallout New Vegas, but the Sexout mods are really nice. I hope to see something like that down the road for Skyrim. With all the gear and weapon mods, plus the continuing expansions being rolled out, Skyrim keeps me entertained. I can wait for the adult mods to progress. It's not the only reason I play the game.
Squeeze Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 Like I said, I was being a bit rash. This thread has given me great insight into the development of these mods and the incredible amount of time it takes. I had no idea it took 5 years to get Lovers up and running for Oblivion!! That said, I figured that Skyrim was an upgraded engine of Oblivion/Fallout so that it may have been a bit easier to get started with these mods. Thanks all for not reacting too harshly, I was not in the best mood when I posted. I will wait, excited and patiently until either I decide I want to tackle some coding tutorials (OH GOD PLEASE NO), or once the more talented community members decide to band together.

And I too am a little frustrated with the lack of mods, but I understand why they're taking so long, thank the modders for their hard work, and am glad my desktop PC is dead and by the time I finally get a working one Skyrim Lovers should be ready!

[/quote'] not to add anymore grief here then there already is and please with my work schedule please take into consideration i dont get too involved with forums so with that said my apologies upfront, I can sympathize with both parties both the builders/moders/and script writers and that of the daily consumers/down loaders and idea gathering and brain stormers I am also a long time lover of the Oblivion Platform and Loverslab, and not to hijack this thread , and if what i say is taken or spoken in the wrong place please feel free to move where you think it may need to be moved to,...with that said here is my inputs on this topic I have probably 200-400GB's of the mods from here,Elrichs, and countless other sites, i commonly see posts in the downloads section that start out with an idea and brain straining input gathered that reaches sometimes into the triple digits in page counts, however i see the same issue here with the Skyrim mods that was a common (IMO) with that of Oblivion mods... that is everyone here do a fantastic job of Making these mods and believe me i say this with a heavy heart, every modder here does a Fantastic job of providing a description on the website but they come up short in the actual program packaging and distribution ... there are quite a few of us that have this Great game here in my area that goto work download the mods transfer them to a disk take them home and install them only to find out that they have a program with a series of numbers or hodgepodge of letters and numbers with no name let alone what mod they actually are and no description of what they do or where they go or how to install them, today alone i have downloaded 110GB's for Skyrim mods and have been going through them and see it is no different with Skyrim then that of Oblivion, I normally wouldn't have an issue with this But i just got Skyrim yesterday and wanted to beautify it and try out some of these amazing mods, however i see i have another couple of weeks of researching each mod now to make certain i have everything for them before i install them just so i don't have a game full of Bloat ware, mismatched files, bad or missing files, etc...etc...etc... all i am saying is Modders please help us the users out alil copy your text that your typing into Loverslab website under mod description and include that with the Mod, it would go along way to helping keep the grief down to a minimum, ....now to add why i am asking this , its because Myself I currently have my home up for sale, i disconnected my internet 2 years ago in preps for getting my house ready for sale so i have been going to work and downloading and transferring to a hdd and taking them home and reinstalling them you can imaging the headache when it comes to driving all the way back to work just to download a mod or an installation file, as it is now i am now copying all the pages here in the downloads section before i download a mod, which really sucks the life outta downloading mods..... onto other news.... for those Mod makers out there and the Admin who run this site, I am a PC tech and builder and am in the process of "when my house sells" opening up a pc store, in the process of that information i have some stock left over, and to help those that are in need i can donate or add to your systems to help benefit your building or rather in my own words, keep you Making these great mods for us consumers, i know this is a job that gets many thanks but for your hard work and many countless hours of making your mods your pc equipment takes the brute of it and when a GPU crashes or a CPU is over volt-aged and dies in your system its you that suffers at our expense so to speak, minus that of the actual cost of your components , so what i am offering you is either an upgrade to your video card/cards, memory or motherboards, or ...even better if you need a New system I can do that too at My cost and not at Stores cost or one of those high end POS dell gaming overheating egg-cookers that they sell, that sucker you into buying a proprietary system ... I offer full MFG warranties, with all receipts in your name for about 2/3rds the price of a store bought system or almost half price for a custom machine.... please feel free to check out my Jobs that i have currently uploaded and updated on my Photobucket album please bear in mind these are only a handfull of the actual builds i have done and i do sell and ship world wide. i can handle both new and used and can even do exchanges providing information is kept up with your cards and they aren't outta date or no longer used ...meaning no i wont warranty any AGP or pci graphics cards and no digging that relic from the 80's out of the basement and trying to get a freebee for it, if you have 6year old or younger pc please feel free to contact me, i don't deal in old tech but i do cover air/liquid cooling solutions and case painting and custom work as well http://smg.beta.photobucket.com/user/XTREMEANODIZING/library/ANODIZING for more info please contact me directly VIA PM or Email , to the Admins i am not trying to illicit business I am only offering my services to those that can benefit from it... please feel free to click the show more albums tab in grey at the upper left corner to view the rest of my work logs
