nobis Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Checked topics from 2016 / 2017, maybe we need a fresh one on this question. I have a desktop. Once took it with myself ( crazy idea ,..bag with pc box felt out of the car,..., anyway ) Travelling a lot - any advice, for a laptop choice, with $1000 / $1300 budget, that would be capable runnin oldrim\se with all of its naughty mods ? Thanks in advance.
Ernest Lemmingway Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 While I'm certain that there are laptops for less than $1.3k that make great gaming rigs, Beth games are notoriously hardware-reliant. A laptop capable of running even Oldrim with a heavy mod load would likely be double or triple your budget. I could be all wrong but my experiences (with desktops, at least) has shown me that it takes a pretty heavy duty system to run Oldrim running 130+ mods, especially if those mods are script-heavy. I don't know if Newrim is any better.

My PC is years old, the most expensive part is now it's GFX card, but even then, the total sum that left my pocket would not exceed 500$. You just have to pay attention what you throw your money at. While it is still good enough for a heavy(!) modded Skyrim LE and (almost vanilla, because I don't care, yet) SE the CPU wasn't fit anymore for newer games like Witcher3. So going for a notebook, I would assume, 1000$ should work. The old requirements (here : https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:System_Requirements ) should be easily possible today.
