CTD when adding animations to SL defeat

My game mysteriously CTDs each time I try to add tags for Defeat to use. I've checked Papyrus log but it doesn't seem to contain anything that would help me resolve this problem on my own. I also checked other logs that I could find like the SexLab.log and it had the following line before the crash happened:

papyrus Loading File: ../SexLab/AnimationProfile_1.json
    File does not exists: Data/SKSE/Plugins/SexLab/../SexLab/AnimationProfile_1.json

I've already re-installed everything, checked my load order 10 times, googled the error but nothing seems to help. What is causing this to happen?

Papyrus log says it is not finding your animations. So, you need to post your entire load order (preferably in a spoiler and preferably from LOOT) and explain EXACTLY how you are going about adding tags for Defeat.

Well I'm trying to add the tags so defeat uses the specific animations I want it to use. I go to the MCM menu, select the "animation settings" tab in defeat and click on any of the boxes that let me add tags. It doesn't matter which one I click on AFAIK.

Alright, I see SLAL but what animations are you using with it? I believe Defeat recommends Funnybizness - that has to be loaded separately.

I don't think the tags per se are your issue. I think you need to get a better handle on using SLAL or just drop it from your load order. Defeat says it recommends it but doesn't require it. You have too short a load order to be having CTDs so look at Defeat, look at the animations, figure out what YOU want and go for it. We'll all still be here if you try something and it doesn't work.

See that's the funny part. I had a working install a few weeks back with way more SLAL animations installed but I accidentally broke that drive and had to re-install skyrim. These problems only started happening yesterday. I have Funnybizness installed and SLAL MCM recognizes it and lets me enable and register those animations. The animations even work but as soon as I try to add the tags to defeat the game CTDs.

Please tell me the number (decimal or hexadecimal) of funnybizness animations in your load order. I can't seem to find it.

There is no number anymore. I uninstalled SLAL and funnybizness animations to see if one of those was the reason why my game was crashing. Even after removing those two and starting a clean save my game crashes when I go to defeat and try to add the tags. That only happens AFTER I have installed SexLab through the MCM. I'll attach the SexLab.log and papyrus log again.

Had this same issue before, you actually dont need to add tags to Defeat for the mod to use them (unless you only want specific types animations to be called). If you dont care what animations it calls for & want any animation to be used, use the key it lists to remove whatever default tags it has listed so they are left blank & then go to SexLab MCM > the toggle animation section, then switch to aggressive animations & just check on whatever animations you want & they'll show up during Defeat events.

That sounds like a good workaround. Did you ever fix the issue or did it fix itself? I still want to add some very specific tags to those lists.

Shame. I guess I'll use the workaround for now and hope for a miracle to happen.

Hey! I don't know if you're still having this issue, but-- if you are-- I was too, but I solved it by moving defeat super far down in my load order below all of the animations and other sexlab mods, basically just the last thing above my skeleton.  Hope this helps!
