XunAmarox Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 What's the PM limit here? It was fine last time I was here, but I just deleted 3 pages of PM's and it still says it's full... >_>
srayesmanll Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Not sure if it's based on a hard number or size. I couldn't find anything on that either. You probably already know this, but when you delete from the inbox, sent, or any others, it just moves to the trash. You don't get the space back unless you go to the Trash folder and delete from there. As I said, you probably already knew that, but just in case...
gregathit Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Sure, it is still full. All you did is move them from your inbox\sent box to your trash can. Go to the trash can and delete them there, and you will be back in business.
Mailamea Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Was wondering myself, how many messages does it take to full someones inbox. Currently 72 pages with 97%
gregathit Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Was wondering myself' date=' how many messages does it take to full someones inbox. Currently 72 pages with 97% [/quote'] That is a good question. I am guessing it is either the number or perhaps the size or could even be a combo of the two.
XunAmarox Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Whoa... 72 pages? lol I have 3 pages in Inbox and 2 in Sent and I'm at 84%.
Ark of Truth Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Was wondering myself' date=' how many messages does it take to full someones inbox. Currently 72 pages with 97% [/quote'] She doesn't believe in clearing her inbox, I those pages go a few weeks if not months back. Plus most of them are most likely from 1 or 2 people. Whoa... 72 pages? lol I have 3 pages in Inbox and 2 in Sent and I'm at 84%. Did you empty your trash bin? rash bin still counts as used space.
XunAmarox Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Yeah, I emptied my trash. Different user ranks likely have different PM limits, and they were likely changed at some point since the first of this year.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Everyone should have the same limit. Better to have regular users have a reasonable limit, but allow them to simply ask and recieve a much larger (or no) limit. This would function to mitigate spam attack risk while still letting people PM as needed.
XunAmarox Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 Normal users even on massive forums only take an infinitesimal amount of database space with pm's. Maybe set some user class or something that people get after 25 or 50 posts or something that gives them a standard like 250-500 pm limit or something, if you're worried about mass spam bots. Though, adding rotating custom questions that bots would have a very difficult time with and a captcha to the registration helps immensely in my experience.
