Yes it is worth getting, as for what you need? Well I'm not sure I understand the question, check on the sims 4 website for min-requirements?

This is an EA recommended tool which checks how well your system can run the game. Mods are as simple as dropping the files in the folder. No installer needed.

thanks for your reply how hard is it to mod compared say to skyrim or fallout

There isn't really a comparison, sims4 is the easiest to mod out of those games by a very large margin.

thanks and which version is best sims 4 I take it to mod

The most current version of the game, ideally a real version.

Its your choice what one you buy (Digital delux is just some extra not important stuff), you will need the base game. Seasons is an EP.

Hi!

It doesn't really take a beast of a computer to run the game,

I play on an i3 laptop which is far from gaming spec,

If I play in full ultra graphics it'll lag my visuals but I turn a lot of it down and use a program called Reshade to enhance colour and shadow while I play,

The modding side of things is easy, the game creates a respective folder for mods on installing,

This is found in My Documents,

Just unzip or extract if required and drag/drop directly into it, or if you choose, you can create subfolders within this folder for better organizing,

There's plenty of help if you get stuck, just head to the technical support thread and either you'll see your issue is a common one and been solved or just ask!

Yeah that's usually how it works, just so you're aware, the average cost of the base game and all stuff packs, expansions and game packs is around $600+... So if you can find them on deal it can save you a lot of money.

so if I just buy the base game which at the mo is just under £18.00, that is enough to allow me to download mods from this site

yeah if you buy the game and then make sure you let it update after you install it, most of the mods you will find on this site and others will work. I couldn't really be exact but I'd say about 90% of the mods will work with the base game. Any mods that require the other DLC packs will say so in their mod requirements.

Yep, the mods in the form of .package or .ts4script files go into the Mods folder in C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods (or whatever is the equivalent path for your OS). Then the only thing you need to do in the game is enable custom content in Menu (accessed by clicking the ... icon in the top right corner) -> Game Options -> Other, check Enable Custom Content and Mods and Script Mods Allowed and restart the game.

User created sims (.householdbinary, .trayitem,...) go into C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray.

I don't think so, no. The folder with my game installation is very similar to yours, but the Mods folder is placed in user Documents as I indicated (i.e. separate from the game files).

That's weird. The folder <Drive>:\Users\<Username>\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 is also used by the game to store the user settings, saves, screenshots, videos, etc. Have you already installed and started the game? It is possible that the folder structure is created when you run the game for the first time.
