jazzyj314 Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 So I recently have just come up with what is easily my most entertaining and enjoyable roleplay experience in Skyrim - it's a multi-generational persistent world where I have essentially 4 main player characters all loosely related, with their own motivations and experiences which I am slowly building up into one giant storyline split between the 4 perspectives. I'd like to share a story of the final ending once I've got it written up here on LL, but I make no promises. Anyways, this playthrough got me thinking about what other interesting stories other people have come up with in their free time. I'd love to hear everyone share their story of their most memorable Roleplayed playthrough or moments. I'll go ahead and set the stage here by sharing what's going on in my current playthrough. It's a bit wordy because it does have so much gameplay behind it. Spoiler So the story started off with the Dragonborn escaping Helgen with his head attached - like any proper Dragonborn would. He's an orc named Elric. He isn't entirely relevant to the story - but his actions are somewhat important as he lays both the foundation AND is a driving motivation for the primary character that I've got this story revolving around (The other two are important enough to still be "main characters" but certainly not the focus of the story). So a quick recap of Elric the Orc Dragonborn: Saves whiterun from a dragon attack, joins the companions, joins the REAL companions (werewolf), vampires attack whiterun and kill Adrianne Avinicci - a good friend of his whom he never entirely gets over her death (this will be important later in the story as the driving force behind joining the dawnguard as well as another character's development), finds a book called "The Aetherium Wars" - after which he travels to Markarth - get's involved in a Forsworn plot, and watches the Forsworn King die in the city streets (again, this is a foundation for later development) - becomes involved with several Daedric princes (Molag Baal, Dibella, Meredia, and Namira), meets Eola - whom becomes his primary travel companion, buys a house in markarth and finally adopts the main character of the story: Lucia. Elric also begins hunting down the Aetherium Forge in which he meets the ghost of a woman named Katria. Forming a quick bond with Katria, he later decides to train Lucia in the art of the hunt to honor Katria, giving her Katria's twin daggers and unique bow "Zephyr" and taking her hunting in the mountains of The Reach. He also shares his blood with her in the hopes of strengthening her through making her into a Werewolf, but it doesn't take. He knows something is coming, and he's preparing her to take care of herself. 4 years pass. Lucia is living with Eola, and the Dragonborn - her adoptive father - has disappeared entirely. There are various rumors as to his disappearance, but none have been confirmed. Lucia is now technically an adult. Eola (who has now become her adoptive mother after the disappearance of Elric) takes her to Riverwood and - in a final test to make Lucia a strong woman who can follow in her father's footsteps - forces her to fend for herself long enough to be able to buy her own house - leaving her alone with nothing but a set of basic clothing and a gold ring to sell for basic supplies. Alvor gives her a place to stay and a job to do. She discovers that she has the ability to learn basic shouts as a result of the shared blood from the Dragonborn when he attempted to turn her into a werewolf. The shouts, however, have caught the attention of the Daedra - specifically Nocturnal and Dibella, but Nocturnal gets to her first... and so she is trapped in Bleak Falls Barrow locked up by divine chastity, unsure of if returning to Riverwood would be safe now. Meanwhile, unknown to her, Lucia has a younger and an older sister - Lillian and Samantha (Lilly and Sam, younger and older, respectively). See, what Lucia didn't know was that she was the kidnapped daughter of a noble family, but the kidnappers were attacked nearby a farm outside of Whiterun while taking her to Riften when she was very young. In reality, her parents were alive and well for most of her life... Until recently. Her younger sister - Lillian was recently attacked by the same organization that kidnapped the baby Lucia, only this time things got a bit more violent. She was en-route to being sold into slavery when - once again this organization got attacked by a rival group, leaving her the only survivor to her own situation. Chained up tighter than a hippie trying to save a tree, she managed to get herself free outside the ruins of Helgen. With nowhere else to go now that she was alone, nearly freezing to death, and bordering on naked, she made her way to the nearby village of Riverwood... where fates will soon collide. Meanwhile, Samantha - the older more tomboyish sister - had already left home to join up with the Imperial Army to help restore order to the land for the sake of her family. She is unaware of the deaths of her parents, or the kidnapping of Lillian, and has no idea that her missing baby sister is still alive. The story is still unfolding. Each character has an entirely different playstyle (Lucia is the stealthy archer / dagger / shouty character, Sam is the strong, tough warrior, and Lillian is the weaker, glass-cannon type mage), each one has their own motivations (Lucia is trying to find out what happened to her father / the Dragonborn, Sam is trying to end the war, and lillian is simply lost in this foreign world and still mourning her mother, unsure of her next move beyond surviving in the Riverwood area for awhile). Eventually I will be merging the 3 characters into a single team seeking to bring back the Dragonborn so he can defeat Alduin. It's a work in progress, a big work in progess, but it's been incredibly entertaining. The mods I use are mostly immersion focused, and the settings for most of the more devious things are for added risks and challenges to the game, rather than a focus. The difficulty is set to Master, and my characters are intentionally a little bit weaker than in a normal playthrough. Death is still death most of the time... but occasionally what would have been death might instead be rape, robbery, or enslavement. The story simply continues from there. It makes everything more dangerous (and exciting) because literally anything could kill you... or not. I use a combination of Familiar Faces and Alternate Actors to switch between the different characters and basically have 4 entirely different characters of my own design in the same game world, as well as RSChildren Overhaul and Growing Up In Skyrim to seamlessly make Lucia - the NPC from whiterun into a legitimate playable (adult) character who is literally the same little girl you adopted previously. A combination of Alternate Start - Live Another Life and You Are Not the Dragonborn has allowed me to develop multiple unique characters and bring them over through Familiar Faces and control them with Alternate Actors in my main game. Everything is pretty streamlined and smooth - somehow even the incompatible mods "Alternate Actors" and "Racemenu" have been playing very nicely with each other with no sign of problems. I have managed to get all of this functioning through modding without problems (mostly - one crash over dozens of hours of gameplay, which was easily fixed by loading a prior save). Here's the modlist I'm currently using: (I'm planning on adding one more today, if I can get it functioning alright) Spoiler Mod List (August 1st, 2018) #Mod_Priority,#Mod_Name "0064",".Armor and Clothing for RSChildren - Playable Override and All DLC Patches" "0126","Address Unknown" "0065","Alternate Actors" "0020","Bathing in Skyrim" "0078","Beast" "0066","Better MessageBox Controls" "0015","BodySlide and Outfit Studio" "0079","BrandingDeviceOfDoom 0 50" "0111","Campfire - Complete Camping System" "0073","Complete Crafting Overhaul Remade" "0021","DD - Interactions v 2.1" "0097","Deadly Mutilation - dismemberment blood and gore" "0080","Deadly Pleasure (Komotor project) alpha 0.3" "0028","Death Alternative - Your Money or Your Life" "0081","Devious Captures" "0025","Devious Devices Assets" "0041","Devious Devices Expansion" "0040","Devious Devices Integration" "0082","Deviously Cursed Loot" "0084","Deviously Helpless 1.15d" "0101","DIMface2" "0100","DIMONIZED UNP female body" "0011","DLC: Dawnguard" "0010","DLC: Dragonborn" "0009","DLC: HearthFires" "0099","EatingSleepingDrinking - KuNeruNomu -" "0075","Exchange currency" "0072","Facial Piercings" "0103","Falskaar" "0069","Familiar Faces" "0105","FirstPersonPlugin" "0039","Fores New Idles in Skyrim - FNIS" "0110","Frostfall - Seasons - Classic Edition" "0118","Frostfall 3.4 Release" "0115","Frostfall and Needs Flavor Text" "0085","FtM 3" "0029","Fuz Ro D-oh - Silent Voice" "0067","Growing Up in Skyrim - Alpha - WIP" "0086","HavokCollisionObject" "0033","HDT HighHeels System" "0027","HDT Physics Extensions" "0087","HDTSextoys" "0112","Hunterborn" "0102","Immersive Beds" "0076","Immersive Jewelry" "0104","Ish's Respec Mod" "0024","JContainers" "0032","KS Hairdos - HDT Physics" "0031","KS Hairdos - Renewal" "0038","KS Hairdos - Renewal Breast Weight Painted Hair" "0120","Living Takes Time - Frostfall 3.0 compatible" "0088","More Nasty Critters" "0089","Naturalistic HDT Jiggle and Collision Set" "0017","NetImmerse Override" "0043","Nordic Warmaiden - UUNP Nipple and Navel Patch 8K v2.1.1" "0042","Nordic Warmaiden Body Hair - 4K Res - v2.1.0" "0044","Nordic Warmaiden Hair v2.0 - Armpits - SlaveTats" "0113","Ovens and Churns of Skyrim" "0127","Overwrite Folder" "0045","PapyrusUtil v33" "0125","People are Strangers" "0026","Pumping Iron - Dynamic Muscle Growth" "0046","questVersioning" "0022","RaceMenu" "0119","Real Shelter - Full Release" "0116","Realistic HD Beverages" "0122","Realistic HD Food" "0121","Realistic HD Food & Beverages - Havok Physics Fix" "0030","Realistic Needs and Diseases" "0035","RealisticRoomRental-Enhanced" "0062","RS Children Overhaul" "0063","RSChildren USLEEP Patch - 170618 Fixed" "0047","SDPlus361" "0048","SDResources361" "0049","SexLab" "0052","SexLab hormones" "0050","SexLab Tools v3.0" "0051","SexLabAroused V28b" "0012","SexLabFramework v162 FULL" "0091","Shout Like a Virgin BodyslideUUNPv3" "0090","Shout Like a Virgin V6" "0034","Showers in Inns" "0068","SkyBox" "0018","SkyUI" "0092","SkyUILib" "0093","SL Defeat v5.3.5" "0096","SLAL Animations by Leito v1.6" "0053","SlaveTats" "0054","SlaveTatsEventsBridge" "0055","SLDialogues31" "0094","Sorlis" "0056","SOS" "0057","SOS Pubic Hair for Females Addon (AIO) 1.3b" "0013","Spouses Can Live Everywhere" "0058","StressAndTrauma v1" "0071","Take Notes - Journal of the Dragonborn" "0124","TES5Edit 3.2.1" "0108","Timing is Everything - Quest Delay and Timing Control" "0023","UIExtensions" "0008","Unmanaged: Alternate Start - Live Another Life" "0007","Unmanaged: amazingfollowertweaks" "0006","Unmanaged: buildablehouse" "0005","Unmanaged: caliente's beautiful bodies edition" "0004","Unmanaged: CWRS" "0000","Unmanaged: dad_jokes" "0003","Unmanaged: followers_stealthkills" "0002","Unmanaged: followerwander2" "0001","Unmanaged: marriagemod - alpha v3" "0014","Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch" "0098","UNP Minidresses Collection" "0109","USLEEP Survival Mod Patch for Campfire - Frostfall - Hunterborn - Realistic Needs" "0095","UUNP HDT Piercings Repaint" "0059","VanillaChoker&Earrings" "0074","Weapons and Armor Fixes Remade" "0061","Wigs - so followers can use KS hairdos with HDT physics" "0123","Wrye Bash 307 Beta3 - Standalone Executable" "0016","XP32 Maximum Skeleton Extended" "0107","You are not the Dragonborn" "0114","You Hunger" "0060","yps-ImmersiveFashion(5.4.1) FULL" "0070","ZaZ Animation Pack+ UUNP HDT V.8.0+" "0077","ZazAnimationPackV7"
darkconsole Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 its a shame familiar faces is janky af. i could never get a save with it to survive for very long before it became a broken cluster of useless alcoves. for the whole 15 levels it usually survives, that is what i was trying to do as well. build a team of characters that had their own buildups.
jazzyj314 Posted August 1, 2018 Author Posted August 1, 2018 I won't lie, there's been some definite console command trickery to fix a few janky imports, but in the end I've managed to get things working quite well. Lucia has taken over as the main PC character in World 1, Elric is tucked away in Familiar Faces and then replaced by Lucia through Alternate Actors and deleted from the world. I'm just hoping I can live out this complex story without everything breaking.
Excurios Posted August 1, 2018 Posted August 1, 2018 Watch out with the immersive beds mods I've heared that it was very buggy and can load a sh*t tons of scripts.
jazzyj314 Posted August 2, 2018 Author Posted August 2, 2018 It just clicked about what you said about the FF and having broken alcoves, darkconsole. Are you talking about the issue it has where it doesn't remember your characters and all of the alcove slots randomly get stuck or switch to busy? If so, there's a really simple and easy fix for that. I had that problem with this current run already and fixed it. I would be happy to share the fix with you if that's the case.
Guest Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 My most interesting roleplay in Skyrim to date would definitely have to playing as a weak, blind beggar. Whilst I could still see the screen as a player; in-game it was a different story. I enforced a plethora of rules on myself; I'll list a few: > When walking or exploring; use a staff or stick to guide character forwards into unfamiliar areas or paths. > When exploring unfamiliar paths/areas try to feel the way around instead of meta-gaming. > Unless you hear footsteps chasing you or it rains in a familiar place; walk/stumble around. > Don't meta-rush at enemies unless you have a IC reason to do so; e.g. you know a hostile is there/bar fight. > Always submit if a male character stops you in the street (DCL - Misogyny feature set to 20% - Basically 20% chance when talking to a male they demand sex) As for NPC interactions along with some other events (traps, ambushes, random encounters) I ended up using my dices and set up a system of sorts. (I'm a war-gamer; go figure hehe): In general; lower dice rolls were worse; NPCs might try to grope my character inside inns, rape my character outside. Higher rolls resulted in a coin or friendly interaction. I also had a detection system for NPCs on the roads; being blind increases overall perception to the remaining senses so that was the basis for it. On the rare occasions of combat; I would always be on a disadvantage; I used 3 D6 for enemies, 2 D6 for my character per chance to hit. Also enemies who got 14-16 triggered a D20 roll which basically decided if my character fled/yielded (50/50 chance for the additional roll > 1/3/5 flee - 2/4/6 yield). Only on a roll of 12 (X2 D6 max) could my weak player character perform a power-attack. I admit; it was fun for the first week or so but it started to get tedious rolling all the time. I eventually got bored of the roleplay due to the rules; the no-walking rule sounds immersive and great but in reality; to a player it's novelty wears off very quickly. I was toying with the idea of instant-kill rolls against more powerful enemies before I lost complete interest. Rolling for walking, stumbles and feeling walls was not as fun as it looked on paper... Perhaps in time I'll give it another shot with a refined rule set. Bringing the IRL dice rolls into Skyrim's combat was pretty fun and it's still something I do on occasion; even on successful hits the enemy has a chance to block in-game or attack quickly so there's so many elements of chance! A wargamer's wet dream ?

I've barely used Familiar Faces so far (only tried saving a character 2-3 times), and yet those characters seemed to be lost by the mod fairly easily (seemed to happen when starting a new game with a different mod list.)

For my own roleplaying: i usually make a rather raw setup fitting my mods - which usually leads to a rather weak, not very smart girl to justify all the bad decisions she makes to see the worst case contents of mods like slaverun.^^

I was going to install some modded road patrols too but never got around to it on that install. > Random Encounters; I mostly depended on vanilla encounters though it ties into the ambushes section above ^ I sometimes spawned a creature/npc via IRL event dice roll checks.
Warlock3000 Posted August 3, 2018 Posted August 3, 2018 Here are some of the essential mods for me that provide a really good base for roleplaying (I often start a new game, and like playing as a low-level character struggling to get by... been a while since I've done any story quests or seen dragons...) ? Requiem - makes level 1 character a total wimp, makes fights much harder in a realistic sort of way (and demands different approaches to different enemies), completely delevels the world (no level-scaling) while keeping a sense of progression, changes skills to pretty much require perk investment to be used effectively (or used at all, in case of some skills such as lockpicking) and makes a whole lot of other changes that make sense from a perspective of realism. Frostfall, iNeed, Hunterborn - needs and survival stuff. Along with Requiem making room rental more expensive, makes you work to get through the day. Missives, Jobs of Skyrim, Radiant Prostitution (mostly just doing the table-serving game) - for multiple ways to make money. Death Alternative, Defeat - for NOT dying. DA is one of my favourite mods - really makes for a diverse game experience when you can lose and then need to survive and get your act together again. DFB Random Encounters, SOT Sleeping Encounters - enemies (or even allies!) can be anywhere. SOT really stimulates you to sleep in the safety of a city instead of just putting a Campfire bedroll in the wilderness and calling it a night. Interesting NPCs, Inconsequential NPCs, Populated Roads and Lands - more people, duh. Scent of Sex - configure complex conditions to trigger sexy stuff when you see fit.
