xxsilentrevelationxx Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 I was trying to replace the textures on a custom hair-mashup of mine to match the other one (They're from 2 different mods), but when I went in game the hair was sort of "blocky", as circled below. It isn't like this with the original hair/original textures, so I'm wondering if anyone can pinpoint what I did wrong and explain how to fix it. Andy14 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Either the alpha channel is missing in the diffuse map or you have set in the nif no/wrong alpha properties (or both)

Andy14 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 I have neither your nif nor the texture - how should I know? General information: For hair are both the diffuse and the normal map with alpha channel. The diffuse for alpha blending and the normal for specular/glossines. Your screenshots are hair like plastic. So there are errors in diffuse, normal maps or alpha settings in nif - or all together. What exactly is it, I do not know. For that I need the mesh (nif) and the textures. You can upload your mesh (nif) and textures here for review, or as a PM. Do not worry - I do not need meshes or textures from others.
xxsilentrevelationxx Posted July 27, 2018 Author Posted July 27, 2018 Custom Mesh, and the Texture I tried to apply. I honestly have no clue what I'm doing. I've never re-textured something, and I haven't found a tutorial online pertaining to re-texturing hair specifically. SiobhanHairTEST.nif HairRextTest.dds HairRextTest_n.dds
Seijin8 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 Alpha property in the mesh is fine. There are no transparencies in your hair texture. Look at other hair textures and you will see that they aren't the same. You need those blank spaces to have a smooth transition, and removing them gets the result you are seeing.

I'll try re-texturing them again tomorrow with this in mind.
Andy14 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 That should work SiobhanHairTEST.nif Change the ConsistencyTyp to CT_MUTABLE and increased Alpha Test Threshold to 90 (because of overlapping meshes). Paths in Nif are always relative to the data. If the textures are not visible in Nifskope, in Nifskope click on Render -> Settings -> and choose your Skyrim Data folder. textures\sc\5_hairs\hair.dds textures\sc\5_hairs\hair_n.dds Diffuse and normal are from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71561

Fixed, thank you both!
