New Gamer laptop : VRamSizeDX9 detect 4160mb

Hello,

 

I have a new gamer laptop, MSI with an I7 7007, a GTX 1060 with 6GB and 8G ram. My window 10 version is still 1709 (I'm trying to get the 1803 but it seems to have problem)...

 

Anyway : the boris Vorontsov tool VramSizeDX9 detect 4160mb of available memory... It seems a little few... has anyone the same specs, and what the Boris tool says?

DX9 cannot access more than 4Gb directly.

There was an update in Windows 10, but probably you do not have this one.

 

Check with GPU-Z the real amount of memory you have.

Precisely, the update is 1709. When you don't have the good update, the Vram tool doesn't say 4160 but 4024 (or 4124 something like that) ... Anyway : I'll try GPU-Z.

You can actually do that part manually, not hard to figure out what value you should have.

thank you, but this guide was indeed made before the 4bg cap was removed from windows 10... so it advices 3584 when, in fact, I should be able to have more now...

Keep in mind that Skyrim will not use it.

The actual max for Skyrim is about 4Gb of VRam and 3.5Gb of system memory.

@CPU : not if using ENBOOST, precisely. Enboost is made to redistribute the memory usage in order to get over some of the game limitation. Enboost, and "crash fixes" by meh321 allow the game to use more memory. The Boris tool is conceived to tell you how much memory you can dedicate when using enboost. And with 6gb vram and 8gb ram, it should be more than 4160mb...

this should be true:
AutodetectVideoMemorySize = true

 

And yet, a skyrim 32 bit can only address 4096 MB.
It does not matter if your enb displays 14, 16 or more memory. It can not be addressed.

2³² = 4096 MB.
