Jbee94 Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 So I have an 8700k, 1080ti, and 16gm of 2666hz ddr4 ram. I have an ULTRA modded skyrim that has little to no issues and crashes, except for the part where I have severe frame issues and heavy micro stuttering when cells start to load outside. In cities Its normally around 25-45, 25 when the stuttering ensues, and 45 when it stablizes, and outdoors is around 39-60, 39ish when the heavy stuttering ensues. I currently have 509 active mods, 241 of them being esp's, so I can understand the issue just being that the engine is extremely old, regardless of my specs. I play at a 3440x1440p resolution. The only way I can fix the stuttering and stabilize my frame rate is my setting iMipMapSize=1, it gives me SUPER smooth gameplay, at the cost of textures looking somewhat lower resolution when you look up close. All the mods I use are no higher than 2k, with the exception of using 4k for demoniac. Anyone know of any other solutions?
Guest Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 The problem is not your graphic card, but the really old engine of the game that stresses too much the PCI pipeline for no reasons. In fact, if you try the SSE version of the game, you can go stable to 60FPS on a 4K. But that is 64bits. And still not the top of the engines.
27X Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 1. Is your memory actually running at the rated speed, which is a huge deal with beth's gamebryo fork, This also extends to your hard drive. Bethbryo is highly sensitive to any and all storage schemes, and you can plainly see this by running FO4 on a mechanical drive as opposed to an ssd, even a raptor drive. If your PCIE bridge is running at less than full bandwidth, same issue, most often seen in laptops. 2. Scripts. Doesn't matter how badass your card is when your CPU is waiting on 8 million papyrus resolves, I'm running a titan V, and with a quick trip to the nexus I can cripple this bitch down from 90 frames at all times every time to 30 with four mods; Frostfall, Duel, Immersive Patrols, and Wet and Cold, and hell let's thrown in legacy of the dragonborn to make sure my save won't last more than 40-60 hours. Crushing halt with a couple install clicks. 3. Shadow Distance at full res. Skyrim has super cereal performance issue with shadows in general, and while they're better under dx11, they still causes issues, even in FO4 and SSE, Shadows need to be dialed in to a decent close distance if accurate and hard, or respectable far distance if they aren't a priority. 4. >3.1 gig memory management. If you aren't running a properly configured extended memory suite, Skyrim will hang like fuck no matter how expensive your hardware is, and the more fancy grafx you frontload onto that, the worse it gets.

I really have no idea what you just said, but ill try and answer it 1. I dont have a laptop, 2. I have around 5600 scripts. 3. Shadow distance is set to 8000.000 4. Umm, I set up ENBoost and have the propery memory values in my skyrimprefs.ini if thats what you mean.
Jbee94 Posted July 3, 2018 Author Posted July 3, 2018 I mean, playing with mipmapsize=1 isnt that bad, yeah if you look closely stuff is less detailed, but if there's no fix, its not THAT big of a deal. I was look for like a, "oh yeah! change this setting in your (insert file name here) to this value and it'll all be good!" If that doesn't exist, I won't lose any sleep over it. Sorry if i'm wrong, im currently on an HDD, would transferring to an SSD eliminate the stuttering issues? I only have one, and its simply not big enough to hold the massive file size of my game.
dankmemesxd Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Try to tweak your enblocal.ini ,my pc is slighty worse than yours (gtx 1070). And I get around 90+ fps everywhere but towns (around 80 in towns). I only have with my tweaked enblocal.ini, using other ini files, I get 60 frames max.. So I don't know how much 4k affects frames, but I wouldnt think that it affects it that much. Maybe it's just skyrim engine screaming "no, we dont do 4k, 100 fps here", but who knows.

Ive tried tweaking thing from google search suggestions in my enblocal.ini to no avail. I mean, its a HEAVILY modded game with 506 mods, including JKs Skyrim, Paradise Cities etc, so I have insane shadows in cities, but dropping the shadow resolution doesn't do anything. 3440x1440 isn't 4K though, its double of a 16:9 1080p monitor, 4K is literally double the pixels of what my monitor currently is suprisingly. To answer your question, 4K affected frame rate ALOT when I tested it, I got 6 fps in Whiterun lol. As I said, TexMipMapSize=1 gives me a solid 60 all round, even when cells load, as long as your not starting at the textures point blank. I do have my frame rate capped though, it easily surpasses 120 fps+ in dungeons and on some exterior parts when its uncapped. It's weird too, when i'm starting at certain parts in Whiterun, such as the city gate, it'll jump to max FPS, then as soon as I turn around, BOOM frame drop and stutter. I would try Special Edition, but I don't play a whole lot as it is, and my save file that has been run through save script cleaner more times that I can count has kept me going. I would not be interested in starting a new game. Maybe the fact that im using the same save file through 4 reinstalls and have literally cleaned over 1,000's of orphan scripts out of my save is the issue, but considering I don't have any save bloat, and have had zero mod related crash issues, I doubt it. Most crashes I get are from the auto save, and its really rare that that happens. I know I can turn it off, I just forget to save sometimes, so it helps me save progress if I die and dont wind up wasting 30 minutes of time. UPDATE: Not my save, I started a new game with alternate start, jumped out of the Bannered Mare, and ran through Whiterun and hit a new low of 2.4 FPS at one point lmao.

For games with streaming assets and oddly enough beth games that don't stream assets, an SSD will definitely help, eliminate is a pretty strong word to use and not a guarantee. It also won't do anything with graphic or script based lag/stutter, so diagnosing what your exact cause is before purchasing anything is always a smart choice.

I'll try bug fixes, but based off the description, it doesnt seem like it fixes the stuttering issue. UPDATE: Bug Fixes did nothing. Thanks though. I don't think theres a fix for this issue.
skyrimowy Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 also be sure that you have these in enblocal.ini [GLOBAL] UseDefferedRendering=true [PERFORMANCE] SpeedHack=true EnableOcclusionCulling=true [MEMORY] AutodetectVideoMemorySize=true - by this personally i have 8gb Vram in skyrim in 4GB card and never reach this value with 2k textures, new npcs, new clutters and some other shits [LIMITER] WaitBusyRenderer=false _______________ You can also disable in SkyrimPrefs.ini Antyalliasing - because you have one in ENBLOCAL.ini propably set to 16 _____________________________________ Decrease shadow resoultion to 1024 or 2048 and use ENB shadow mask for smoothing edges emmm... [shadow] ShadowBlurRange=2.0 ShadowBlurRangeInterior=2.0 these are mine - you can change to your likings... 4 or more make shadow edges less visible and smoother but yeah if you want ultra quality shadows it's not for you and ignore this _________________ if you have some ESPs that change 2/3 things OR add armors/weapons only OR add racemenu brows/eyes tatoos and other shits or add followers without scripts try to merge them - but the best if you merge them before you start a new game... DON'T UNINSTALL mods in middle game __________________________ Alternative option you can change skyrim.ini settings for smoother gameplay or less crash... You need base on some great tutorials on the internet google it - "performance skyrim INI, BETH INI " or something like that... and look for them - it's propably more than 20-30 lines if you base on 3 or more tutorials I don't post my lines anymore because someone tell that my lines [based on great tutorials and packed into one skyrim.ini file] are shit and only mess up with your skyrim XDDDD it's totally nonsense because actually I can play 6 hours without bugs and CTD - I tested it in rainy sundays... [My eyes was burn Oh GOD] - I have 1 bug in my actual gameplay but propably script dont load properly - Barbas not go into Haemar shame dung... bug was appear by 5 hours of playing without crash Of course everything depends on your load order - how much heavy scripts/heavy textures/heavy overhaul of npc or quests or something... But if you want to try some of these lines - send me PM and i send you all my lines from skyrim.ini
Featured Comment Jbee94 Posted July 18, 2018 Author Featured Comment Posted July 18, 2018 So I solved the issue randomly without even trying. A while ago I heard that iTexMipMapMinimum=1 is a good setting to run because it lowers the resolution of textures at a distance. This whole time, when I was complaining about iTexMipMapSkip having to be set at 1 as well, or else there is uncontrollable frame skips and consistent low fps regardless of by 1080ti and 8700k. THIS WHOLE TIME, I never tried turning the minimum=0 along with the skip=0, but I randomly did and I have 0 frame skips, 40-60 fps all around, etc. I don't know how this fixed the issue. Literally by turning the texture resolution up, I got higher FPS. Im so confused right now, but it worked.
