I use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12933/? and don't have an issue unless it is set on the follower as not playable, if so then you need to go into creation kit and set it as 'playable'.

EFF allows this (talk to follower with the wheel system, command > more > outfit > default > none.

Need to activate the Outfit module in the MCM before. MCM > EFF > Plugins > select Outfits).

Via AFT in the tweak options menu you can select (Gear.....) and have them give you their equipment that way

with ufo by selecting the dialogue line u "you know"  and then "you could dress "better" i was able to remove the armor from my followers, u need to do it just the first time u met a follower, after that, the normal trade option  will give u to all the stuff, i had a bug only with hidielle follower mod, becouse after some hours of gameplay something forced generate another hidielle defalut gear again on her, with Clochette and the others girls made by u instead all works well
