Entry 13- Progress Update

Haven't had a whole lot of time for modding this week, however, I have had a really productive morning today and have managed to get a good chunk of the initial work done.

I'm going to try explaining what I've been up to without giving out any story spoilers. Basically, I have been setting up a brand new scene when you enter Tigras's new cave. It is from the events of this that the player can earn Tigras's trust, and possibly earn the ability to become his beta.

Male players will actually go through the same scenario here, except it will need some tweaking. (Note: This is just an explanation. There will not be male content in v1.0) I'm going to give even less details about this, because most of the ideas are just floating around right now, and are subject to change.

For me, telling a story is interesting, because of the fact that the stories in my mind constantly undergo changes to explain things better than before. It wasn't until just today that I thought of the best way to do the scene, in fact. I'm hoping my efforts will not be in vain, and that the story will be worth going through.

However, there is still quite a bit of necessary work to do. Right now I am combing through my scripts, and removing all of the old references to the old events. The ball of yarn that was keeping me from this update is finally beginning to come undone. I'm expecting a couple of tangles throughout, but so be it, honestly. This new flow should be much more interesting than the mindless sex that was there previously, as it gives me an entirely new story to work with, something I've wanted to do for quite a while.

Once removing the old infrastructure is finished, it will allow me to continue to build the new version of the quest. I'm quite excited about this, I must say, and look forward to saying more about it in the (hopefully near) future.

As for SSL, because Ashal has come out with the new version, some users have reported incompatibility between my mod and the latest version of it. I will need to look into this later, however, it isn't a high priority on my list because I suspect several versions will be released before I'm ready for my own 1.0 release. In addition, sex has been... greatly diminished in importance to the beginning of the mod. Because of this, I'm going to wait until a very stable version comes out that I can work with.

As for Beeing Female, right now I'm not going to work with it. That content will have to be in a later release. Right now I have a set amount of things cut out that need to be done for v1.0, and I'm not going to add anything else to it, or else things will never get done. Rest assured though, this mod will eventually become its namesake. Though I've considered renaming this one again (Probably won't, changing the naming conventions inside the mod would be... awful, to say the least) I've been thinking about making my own custom addon for Beeing Female for handling all of my mod's interactions with it, but it remains to be seen if I will actually go through with this or not.

Update: All of the unnecessary bits have been trimmed off of the mod now. All that is really left now is to get started on really fleshing out the story, and fixing any SSL compatibility issues that arise. Of course, this is still going to take quite a while to do.

I am really glad to see that you're still working on it Phoenix!

And I do like where you have taken this very much, a very well written story is always what makes a mod shine.

Cheers mate and I can't wait to see version 1.0! (please don't overwork yourself again :P )

Update: (Almost) everything for the first scene has been completed. I just need to do one set of dialogue for stage advancement, and then the first part will be ready to go into testing.

After this, there will be three more sequences that I need to create, and test. Once this is done, I just need to finish SSL compatibility, and then 1.0 will be ready.

I'm thinking I'm going to scrap the timer that I was thinking about doing. It would be too much work, and the end result would probably just end up making a lot of people unhappy. Sticking with my guns about how the player decides to end the quest though. Its a pretty all or nothing thing right now, either you can continue helping Tigras after the first scene, or leave and end everything.

Update: More problems arose than I had originally thought of when designing a part of Tigras's dialogue. This is going to take quite a while to figure out...

Update: The first scene went flawlessly, and looks really, REALLY good. I'm quite proud of how it turned out. Just need to tweak some more things, and then I can move on.

Haha i'm kinda glad you didn't like Dark Souls 2 :P

When I saw it was out I thought of you playing it and vanishing from LL for a while. :)

I'm also happy to hear that things are working well for you, let's hope it keeps on that way. ;)

Update: I won't be voicing Tigras myself. The mic that I have with me was broken somehow and no longer records audio. How horrible. Guess I'll probably have to put this in my next official entry, since not a lot of people are going to be looking at these updates.

It remains to be seen if somebody can voice him in a way that I imagine his personality to be. At some point, I'd like to voice every little bit of my mod, but that will never happen, since there will be several female characters, one of which will have a lot of dialogue as she will serve as the male player's version of Tigras in the story. (Kind of...) Always nice to dream big though.

Update: Expect another entry tomorrow. Some pretty cool stuff is getting done tonight.

*edit* As for voicing Tigras. To be honest, if my own voice didn't meet my expectations, I wouldn't voice him. I feel like voice acting can easily break the entire tone of a mod when done poorly. I'm sure many of you have seen examples of this. I would just rather it be silent and let the player imagine what they sounded like, versus give him any voice because someone is willing to do it. I have a particular sort of voice in mind, so we will see if anyone could ever match it.
