Yesterday I Wrote An Ending

The ever-so-annoying thing about Agent is that the fun stuff doesn't really start for a while. That's not to say the early-Tier quests won't be fun and/or interesting. It's just that the storyline doesn't kick in until Tier 5 and the majority of the major characters aren't really introduced until Tier 8 with one waiting until Tier 10 to show up. So when I sit down to work on Agent my mind inevitably wanders to the later Tiers.

But that's not what I made this post for. I made this post to note that I've decided to temporarily remove the short story-related scene from Tier 1, which will allow me to proceed without voice acting. I won't be able to do that for long, though. In fact, there are multiple hurdles that will need to be overcome. Let's take a look...

Tier 3 requires Voice Acting

The huge story mission that shows up in Tier 3 can't be cut out without screwing up a whole bunch of stuff. This is something I need to worry about myself, but the rest...

Tier 15 requires a modeler and animator

Will need an armor modeler for this Tier (actually will probably need them earlier, but this is the first appearance that I know of at this time) as well as someone to model and animate the "boss" for this Tier.

Tier 20 will require a really good animator or a motion capture system

I'm planning on a pre-rendered cutscene here and vanilla animations aren't gonna cut it.

But that's all way in the future. For now, I will start throwing together a very-beta version of the first Tier complete with temporary placeholder dialogue.

Ambitious much? Honestly, you make me drool in anticipation with all the work you're putting in. How do you intend to get around the voice-acting? What exactly, or should I say, who exactly do you need for it? Is it male or female?

Voice acting is always a bit tricky.

It's incredibly ambitious, which is one of the reasons it's paced like it is. It grows in scale gradually, which is not only good in a story perspective, but also means I should get more people interested enough to help out as more stuff happens.

For the moment, I have a method of getting VO but it requires good recording equipment, which I don't have. I'm considering trying to find VAs over the internet, but that's honestly a last resort because of how difficult it is to direct an actor via e-mail. Since we're talking about ambitious things, I intent every NPC added by Agent to be completely voice-acted, including custom sound sets for even minor filler NPCs. This means I need multiple VAs both male and female. I don't intend for them all to be completely unique, however. That would be pushing it.

And to mention being ambitious again, there are a few planned features that I will be posting about after I get Tier 1 out for testing.
