kboom Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Hi guys, does anyone have tips for weight paint the skirt so it can move natural when character runs instead of breaking at the middle of the skirt. Thank you. Here is the weight paint of the pelvis and L thigh bones
kboom Posted May 17, 2018 Author Posted May 17, 2018 Does anyone know to how to weight paint so the skirt behave like in the clip instead of tearing at the middle between the thigh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QA_oNYLqMk
SassaAria Posted May 19, 2018 Posted May 19, 2018 You can use the front skirt bones included in the XMPSE skellie, and blend it with the thigh weights. Shorter dress it helps a bit. Don't ask about the stealth pose though lol. Longer the dress the worse it will look. It's still far from an ideal solution. Ideal solution: Add your own custom bones, make a new walk anim where you animate and weight those new custom bones between the thighs. If you don't want to animate you could try adding bones off the leg bones on either side inwards and weight paint to them. And you'll probably want to make calf weights and transition bones for that too. SMP physics would add to the look. That video you have shows quite a bit of physics. I haven't seen a skyrim outfit with that length and tightness...that looked good...YET.

The dress is hobble dress from devious devices expansion. But i dont know how he can add gradient weight paint on the thigh bone of the skirt in Outfit Studio?. This mesh is build by UUNP BS osp file inside the mod. Spoiler
SassaAria Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Quote But i dont know how he can add gradient weight paint on the thigh bone of the skirt in Outfit Studio?. Maybe this will help? Spoiler Obvi,, i didn't finish and get it exactly the same as origHobbleDress, but you should see enough in that short time to see how you would go about it. Weight painting simply takes time. In video, did quick changing between Left-mouse (to add weight), +Alt (to remove weights), and +Shift (to smooth weights). Hobbledress-1.webm You could also copy the hobble dress weights, but that process is a bit finicky, so I just as soon not start getting into explaining the twists ansd turns so that you keep your bodyslide morphs. Maybe someone else could step in for that. But learning to weight paint well is a handy skill. Also, should add. My original comments were in response to that 2nd quality video. I can't say I was totally pleased when I did left to right leg weight blending. But it's an improvement for sure! You honestly may want to check out adding the Front skirt bones as well, though you'll want to check their position in the skeleton by pulling up the femaleskeleton in nifskope. With some light weight for those, you could maybe get better mesh deforms in the middle of dress. And don't worry about normalizing weight. Have had zero issues. Skyrim engine has no problem with it. But do try to aim loosely for combined weights of 100% for each vert. Good luck! PS. I didn't get notice of your @ . Maybe cos you edited it in afterwards?

kboom Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 @Kimy I wonder how do you paint the weight your hobble dress? especially in Bodyslide? It behaves so nicely in game.
