A request for a nude mod for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition

The title says it all. With this edition, it has a blue variation of the Beach costume, which doesn't have the jacket the red one has. It should serve as a good reference point.

And if it at all possible, could there also be a nude mod for Risky, Sky and Rottytops as well?

I've been trying to do this for like a year and a half i think. It seems almost impossible because Wayforward uses some kind of in house image compression stuff.

However there are some things that you can use to decompress that stuff if you know how to use the programs (which i don't).

this is for the anim files that have the sprites https://github.com/meh2481/wfLZEx

and a quickbms thing for the game file itself (ctrl f shantae) http://aluigi.altervista.org/quickbms.htm apparently needs to be run on the data file and then the vol file you want.

I think this would technically work because i know that quickbms can re pack things but idk how to do that.

Oh i should say that i will make the edits myself if someone can figure out the method of extracting and re-inserting sprites for me.

All the sprites are on the Spriter's Resource. https://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/shantaehalfgeniehero/ But that still leaves the problem of getting them into the game...

Oh, turns out that the blue swimsuit outfit serves as a better reference point than I thought. Even though Shantae cannot dance, get key items, or backdash in Beach Mode, there still exists sprites of her doing those things in the outfit.

But I'm not much of a programmer and quickly got stumped by the links you provided. If someone here doesn't help us with that, maybe I could go to another adult modding site to ask for help. Though, I might as well try again later, maybe I just can't think properly when hungry.

Cool ill take a look at these sprites and hopefully they were taken out of the game using the tools that will be used to put them back in. It'd suck if we ran into formatting issues.

It just dawned onto me, Bluerobot, are you going to modify all of Shantae's outfits? I feel that modifying her normal and beach outfits are a given at this point, but are you also going to modify her sleeping, ninja, and Patty Wagon outfits too?

Probably not. The beach outfit would be first because its less work and then the normal one would be second. After that, the other characters would be next if I got that far.

On a related note, the sprites from the spriter's resource look odd. Their outlines are jagged and their colors are off. It looks like artifacting to me but i could be wrong. I feel like editing these would be a waste of time. I doubt they would reinsert well back into the game.

It would probably be easier to start with something that has less sprites like the giga mermaid or one of the lady enemies.

I see. Though, what I had in mind was modifying just the female playable characters. But if you're willin' to modify the female enemies too, I ain't stoppin' ya.

But now we're back to the problem of not being able to get the sprites...

I mean I want to mod the fem player characters but I think that using an enemy as a test subject would be ideal until we know exactly what we're doing, since the player char's will take a lot more work.

Jus' to make sure we're on the same page, you wanna take an enemy and modify it for testing purposes rather than modifying all female enemies, right?

And another thought occured, both Risky and Shantae are bosses in the game and I'm sure they use a different set of sprites than their playable counterparts. Are you going to modify those too? And what of Nega-Shantae?

Yeah I plan to edit one single fem enemy with short animations as a proof of concept first.

And yes they do have separate sprites. Depending on the method of replacing the sprites, hopefully it wont be too much trouble to replace every instance of a recurring sprite with the edits that get made.

Nega Shantae will probably be last because she's not very important and would require her sprites to be redrawn because of the color differences.

Actually, that's a good idea. The earliest female enemy are the mermaids and they're in stage 2. If normal Shantae sprites are modified, it'll be easier to tell if it works or not.

Some of Shantae's normal spites don't have beach analogues (like the dances). It would be simpler to just do it for beach mode first I suppose.

then perhaps replacing the red bikini shantae with the blue one? (some of us didnt get access to that for not being kickstarter backers...)

All of the in-game backer bonuses are included in the Ultimate Edition including the blue bikini. 'Sides, the modified blue bikini sprites can replace the red bikini sprites. Personally, I'd want the shades to stay.

Was told on Undertow of a extracter/repacker made for Wayforward's Ducktales Remastered. Works like a charm for Half-Genie Hero!

Hate to say it, but this is starting to look less than likely... .pfb files seem do be about fonts and people don't seem to know much about .anb files. There's an IBM program that deals with these files, but it doesn't seem like the kind of files that were extracted from the game. One game that has these .anb files is Shovel Knight, but no one has been able to mod that game either. This leaves us with two options, either create a program that deals with these files, or wait until someone else does...

Nude mods have been around forever, and they don't do anything but make the character appear as nudists without really acknowledging any actual change.

For instance, and here's an obscure reference, the game C&C Renegade had nude skins crop up for all the playable female characters in multiplayer.

What did this change?

Nothing.

The game wasn't more sexy for having half the cast run around in their birthday suits, it just made less sense.

Now compare this Shantae game to, say, anything done by Libra Heart for the Succubus series, it's a completely different dynamic.

Sure this game has some vivacious sexy energy to it, but aside from cute girls in revealing clothes saving the world, in-clothes or not, they aren't really getting any sexier.

Problem is it's hard to go above and beyond when you have cement shoes on... Though a thought, Bluerobot reported that the quality of the sprites posted on the Spriter's Resource were poor, but I think they're supposed to look like that. It's because the camera is pulled back just enough for it to not be noticeable, with a bit of clean-up, they should look fine in-game. But there's still the matter of not being able to convert it into an .anb file, since the Ducktales extractor can make .paks. Who knows, maybe the one who makes a program to create .anbs could be the one who could make the game as lewd as you want. But if the nude mod can't be made, maybe someone can make a lewd Shantae fan game.
