update [2018.09.09] Sim Shine Crystal 1.0.6

-- All Crystal shines are now in 1 CAS thumbnail

-- added 2 extra CAS slots (must have base file to function) - tattoo and skin detail

-- Smoother texture. Reduced file size.

-- You can keep your old version (Crystal 1-9) *version 1.0.6 is a new package*

Sim Shine makes your skin shine! It creates a soft reflection on the body that changes with your viewing angle. It works indoors and outside

Sim Shine Crystal 1.0.6   ///   Sim Shine Crystal 1-9

Imitates the natural shine of skin.  Eighteen levels of shine (Crystal 1.0.6).  Nine levels of shine (Crystal 1-9)

**Crystal 1-9 is the old version, some people may like this better. An improved specular mapping technique and smaller image size were used in 1.0.6

Sim Shine #1 and #2

Original smooth specular texture. Two levels of shine

Sim Shine Atlantis

A flaky texture that imitates the shine of scales

Sim Shine Galaxy

A layer of sparkles on the skin with a high level of shine

Sim Shine Pornstar Cock

Specular textures for Noir and Dark Sims' Pornstar Cock to match Sim Shine #1-2 and Sim Shine Crystal

Hey @parzystyI do use ReShade, though I don't have anything turned on in the sample pics.

The mods are not a part of ReShade and their authors are in the best position to describe their function, I will leave a link here

Thank you for the suggestion I do think we need something more coarse like you describe. I love that mod. When I added shine to make this work indoors, I think it averaged out the input from the texture and made it smooth. I'm going to keep tinkering and see if I can get there

Here is an early version with same same base texture at a different color value. It only works outside.

Spoiler

ReShade effects are active in this photo

Hey @TheShagster (awesome sig) most of the time this happens one of the clothing items you are wearing has it's own spectral texture and is overwriting the shine elsewhere on the body with blank spectral texture. It can be anything you are wearing, tattoos, skin details, but I've found shoes to be the most common problem.

A quick way to check is to add new outfit slot and start undressing the current outfit until you find what the problem is. Also, it is always useful to have a blank sim in Your Households for testing out new mods.

Sim Shine has a low priority so that other non shiny clothes can go on top of it and not get covered with the overlay. However, clothes that fit directly on top of the skin will sometimes pick up the shine on their texture. Please let me know if this does not fix it for you, good luck

I haven't run into this yet, do you think it could be your graphics settings? if you want to try there are other specular overlays you can download and test this with, alltherandom's Oiled Up! or Super Shiny Skin by Reitanna

Anyway, do you think it would be possible to get a more grainy look so it looks like actual wet skin? Kinda like this: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/110/1406024-1352674103.jpg

I think we can get that detailed grainy look but instead of using the Specular Map alone, we use the Normal/Bump Map too. This map when combined with Speculars are an awesome pair thats why for example some EA clothings/ walls/ floors look well detailed eventhough its just flat 2D Textures.

Normal Map + Specular Map = ?

The hassle is that you have to apply the custom made grainniess/skin pore Normal Map onto the desired NSFW CC tops/bottoms/outfits plus this Awesome Shine to get that realistic effect ? ?

Thanks again @crabb for making these, hope to see more of your works.

XOXO

I'm loving this specular overlay so far ^^ you did a great job, just what I had in mind! :D I'm only wondering, is an even stronger version possible? You can see a reflection on the girl's buttcheeks but I feel like it should be more pronounced. I use it for both actors in the scene and as you can see the specular overlay doesn't affect the penis. Do you think that would take much work to do? :) I know that when I use Oily Skins they work on the penis. Just a thought, thanks again for this! ❤️

@parzystyyeah sure that wouldn't be much trouble! I will have to make another CAS item for the penis shine though. If I started adding peen shine by default to the packages I'll start hearing about random shine happening to people's outfits!
