Fix to get all Racemenu overlay options to show?

The issue is I can't seem to get all my overlays available in the Racemenu. In the "Makeup" section of racemenu I should have options for the default warpaints as well as ones from Empyrean Warpaints and Freckle Mania 2, however i just have those from FM2 and the default warpaints. I did a bit of googling and seen other people have this issue but the ones I found were long and didnt have a fix. I still have the Empyrean overlays in game (They were available at start so have a few them saved in my preset and can select them, change colour and so on, however I cannot change it to another overlay from this pack. The current count for the makeup overlays texture list is 174 and its missing 139 from empyrean.

Basically my question is does anyone know of a quick fix for this like an edit to a .ini file or a bug fix mod?

The missing overlays in RaceMenu issue has been around for a while, albeit rarely documented. Often times forgotten and then rediscovered anew, like you're experiencing. I think a lot of people either didn't mind when it happened to them, or had so many overlay packs that they didn't notice when it did. (me: the latter)

1: have the most up-to-date version of RaceMenu you can (the newest version is reported to fix the missing/overcapping overlay issue)

2: make sure none of your overlay packs are overwriting RaceMenu with their own versions of older RM files (SKSE ini's and so on)

Basically what I've seen are that old RaceMenu files are the culprit. Quash the rebellion with one swift stroke. And see if that fixes it.

Unfortunately that didnt work. My Racemenu is the newest version. Uninstalled, reinstalled, yes to overwrites. As you said normally I dont care about it so it's not urgent or anything but thought I may as well ask and try and fix it if I can.

Damn. Sometimes it can be just one overlay pack. Not necessarily the one that's missing from in-game either. The problem with this issue is that I know for a fact it's extremely inconsistent. Starting new games, reloading and starting new characters before going back to the one you want to change will give different results. I had to ask my girlfriend to recount her experience, seeing as she was practically Patient Zero a few years ago and the worst case from my perspective. She said even with everything up-to-date and in order, one big help is to never look at your tats on first load-in especially on a new game. RM loads overlays last to save memory, maybe? Load a game. Hit RaceMenu, Close RM, open it again and see what you roll the second time.

I wish I had better advice for you, but you could try removing one at a time or better yet, see if any of the packs have major updates around the net. Some of those guys left the nexus and only leave updates on their personal blogs/Halofarm.

Good luck in any case.

...Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\SKSE\Plugins  find and open nioverride.txt.

[Overlays/Face] ; "Face [Ovl#]" and "Face [SOvl#]"
; Determines how many face overlays there should be
iNumOverlays=3 ; Default[3]  <<<<< change this value to how many slots you need
iSpellOverlays=1 ; Default[1]

There are also settings for body,hands and feet you can adjust if you need to. The order they show up is based on how many you allow for and pretty much what is loaded first but that can also be changed.
