nemocdt Posted April 14, 2018 Posted April 14, 2018 i have a problem with my grass, i found a setting on LL a while back that loaded grass to the horizon it looked amazing (using veydosebrom and sfo) after a disaster with my skyrimpref.ini i am unable to find the thread again. im not sure if this issuse is [Grass] related or Lod related. Settings and results are below Skyrim.ini [Grass] iGrassCellRadius=2 bAllowCreateGrass=1 bAllowLoadGrass=0 bGrassPointLighting=1 iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=8 iMinGrassSize=70 skyrimpref.ini [Grass] fGrassStartFadeDistance=7000.0000 fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=18000.0000 fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=400.0000 b30GrassVS=1 any help is appreciated.
guk Posted April 15, 2018 Posted April 15, 2018 I think the grass range is capped by your uGridsToLoad, which would explain the 1st pic with the square grass field. FWIW these are my grass settings, meant to be used with SFO + Enhanced Landscapes (grass plugin), uGrids 5 and DynDoLOD set to high. Should all be STEP-approved or otherwise be required from the various flora mods. Skyrim.ini [Grass] fGrassFadeRange=18000 bAllowCreateGrass = 1 bAllowLoadGrass = 0 iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure = 10 iMinGrassSize = 50 Skyrimprefs.ini [Grass] b30GrassVS =0 fGrassStartFadeDistance =7000.0000 fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance =7000.0000 fGrassMinStartFadeDistance =0.0000 And well, usually it is better to pick grass textures that somehow match the landscape and let it fade softly in the distance. Your grass glows like candlesticks, which is why it looks so bad in the distance. This could also be a bug from some mod; i remember having certain mods like Aibellia Island etc. installed which all would make some edits to vanilla grass properties. One of them caused the glowing grass similar to your pics.

Thanks for the reply Trollsco1c. vivid landscapes changed the overall land texture in whiterun giving a total immersion breaking visual dissonance with veydosedrom. i'm gonna have to reorder things. i love the look of flowing green pastures through whiterun. i'm going with amidian next. the vivid weather style (and dependencies) i used, is too realistic for my taste i prefer a fantasy theme and enb. i havent wrecked my build but i'll be starting a new game.
