Fixing The Neck Gap On a Follower Mod Solved

Hi guys,

I'm making this post to help other modders facing the 'Neck gap' problem when making a follower mod.

So I was having this issue myself with a follower I created and had no idea how to fix it. I made sure to set the correct weight for my follower in Racemenu before exporting her head using spf and racemenu head export feature. I setup everything in CK and when I went in game to meet my follower, she had this horrible neck gap:

I went back to CK thinking that I messed up her weight or something. But it was all good there. I noticed that the preview showed in CK would only fix this issue if I set her weight to 100, but I didn't want her to have that weight. So I went online and tried to find a fix to this issue. And so, I arrived to this post on Reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/75cs95/how_can_i_change_an_npc_mods_weight_without/

The author of this post was asking for a fix to the 'Neck seam' problem, but other user there spotted that the real issue he was having was a 'neck gap', not a neck seam. You can see on that page, all of the possible solutions people gave to this user so he could fix this neck gap, sadly none of them worked for him. So I was pretty much stuck just like him and thought it was just bad luck with this follower. That it was broken and I wouldn't be able to fix it. :frown:

But then I remembered something. I remembered that back in the CK, for my follower's 'armor' and 'armor addon', that I had those parts set as 'DefaultRace'. That's when I thought "Since my follower is a Breton, I should change those parts to match my follower's race", and so I did:

I exported her head again, merged it in NifMerge and VOALA!:

No more neck gap!!!

It was such an easy solution! I wanted to tell this to the guy on Reddit but unfortunately, the thread was closed :frown:

So I'm leaving this here to any person dealing with this problem. I hope this help you.

Don't give up on your followers!
