S4ur0n Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 At the beginning of March, I downloaded and added a new mod for my Skyrim. The Sounds of Skyrim - The Dungeons. Here is a link to the page. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8601 I downloaded this mod and decided to try it out on a new game file. When I started a new game, the screen started shaking, lights in the game flickering, and my new character had no hair suddenly. The screen would shake for about a minute and a half all while messages were popping up saying "Immersive Armors has finished Configuring." But it said the same message over a dozen times. When the shaking stopped and everything was back to normal, I checked my mods list and was shocked to see that not one mod was there. I have at least 20 mods on that list, if not more. But now, not one mod was listed. I immediately removed the Sounds mod, purged the files completely from the game as well as my mod manager, cleaned them up, and even deleted the new game to start another one. And it was all good and fine. Until today. I put a new mod into my Skyrim game, the mod being Cursed Child's Doll, Flesh Atronachs, and Druid Backpack, here https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/87530 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/87688 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/84995 I decided to start my last save. But when I went to boot up the game, it crashed before the main menu appeared. Obviously, one of the new mods wasn't going to work. I figured it was the Flesh Atronach mod as it added 7 new creatures as well as armor sets and set up a new system from which they interacted with others. Once I removed this I could get to my game files again. As soon as I went to load the save, it told me that "This Save Relies on Content that is No Longer Present. Some Objects May No Longer be Available. Continue Loading?" I was puzzled because I hadn't started any game with the Flesh Atronach mod active because it crashed before I could even select a file to load. I told it to continue loading and when it started, the screen started shaking again, my character had no hair, and the lights flickered. I was freaked out now because the only mod that had that effect was the Sounds of Skyrim which I had purged almost a month back. What can I do? Every save file is now like this, even ones that existed months before I even downloaded the Sounds mod. Can the Cursed Doll mod or the Druid Backpack mod be causing this? I highly doubt that is the case. But something happened when I put them into my game. How is it possible that the Sounds mod is still present even when I purged the files, scrubbed it clean, and even started a new game? Is there a small part of that mod that exists that is causing this? If so, why didn't it make itself known in the month after I purged the mod and has only returned now? I fear I may have to uninstall and reinstall my Skyrim game. But would that purge it? What should I do?
Guest Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 It's not about the mods. It's your mod manager / setup. If you go for a complete reinstall I'd suggest you Mod Organizer, use it well and you won't need to worry about leftover files, overwrited files, install order and so on. That or make sure your mod manager is doing it's job (I guess NMM or WB work just as fine, as a lot of people use those). Also, don't test mods on saves you care about... Note that your current saves maybe won't work without issues unless you have the same loadorder you had while playing... so better think about a) start a new save; b) make backup of those saves and try to clean them with some of these save cleaning tools.

I use the Save Tool program. I have gone through every single save file and it tells me there are no orphan scripts, no script instances, nothing that would affect the game. And yet, even then, I get the same issue. I'm wondering if it's possible that the Sounds of Skyrim mod added bits to other mods and that's why I'm getting this issue. I honestly want to just uninstall and reinstall it all. Would that purge the files and allow me to start fresh? UPDATE: I just removed the mods I added today and my games start up just fine. What the fuck?! Why would those mods have such an impact on my game? Why would that cause every single save to become fucked up until I removed it? What fucking mod did it collide with to create that perfect storm of crap? My LOOT showed no errors or warnings and yet, if I had even a single one of those mods installed, the game basically said I had missing data on my saves.
