rockitten Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 I am testing my new game rig with FO4 last night (just before that shitty update that killed F4SE). One thing I noticed: while the graphic is okay-ish unless you look really up close (I use some 2048 texture mods to help FPS), the shadow is TERRIBLE. It looks so coarse that makes NPC looks like having a sun-bath without sun cream and now the skin are pealing off...... Is there any way I can improve it, like ini setting, mod or even just switch-off shadows all together?
AWP3RATOR Posted April 4, 2018 Posted April 4, 2018 In the vanilla launcher which you probably never see as an F4SE user.... you can adjust the Shadow quality under Advanced settings. Turning them up or down. Additionally, these .ini tweaks can be made to completely disable shadows (or adjust them to your liking) fallout4pref.ini iShadowMapResolution=512 uiShadowFilter=3 uiOrthoShadowFilter=3 fBlendSplitDirShadow=999999.0000 iMaxFocusShadows=0 iMaxFocusShadowsDialogue=0 fShadowDistance=0.0000 fDirShadowDistance=0.0000 iDirShadowSplits=1
guk Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 If you see extremely pixellated shadows across large parts of the skin like this: 1. right side of neck/chest and between the breasts 2. on the left cheek For this you need to change the Ambient Occlusion method from SSAO to HBAO+. There also is another issue with pixellated shadows, i just noticed this while testing the latest update of Film Workshop ENB so this might be specific to the preset, or a driver issue Edit - below is caused by ENB's Detailed Shadow 3. across the temple of the glasses, and at the right side of the neck mostly
