General Concenus on Xbox W.I.P Uploads

Im an xbox player. For the last year there have been body mods, stolen mods, and things generally prohibited. Theres a little tug of war between mods authors, and a subsequent crackdown of wip mods, causing some problems for genuine wips. I know this is a pc forum primarily, wondering if anyone is aware of this or involved.

I am very much aware of this. Since day one of Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 mod launch for Xbox, there has been a rash number of mods flooding the Bethesda servers. In the same process, people were downloading mods from different authors and posting them to the Bethesda site as theirs without giving the correct credit to the originating author. Bethesda tried to crack down on it like they do with anything displaying sexual nature, [due to the game rating having to become A rated instead of M.] This war has been going on since before the mod function for console users was even a thing. Taking work that was not theirs, uploading it else where and claiming it as their own. Not really a new thing happening.

Edit: As for the WIP mods, if the mod author so chooses to upload to Bethesda, [Assuming it follows guidelines] then they will or appoint someone they know to port the mod over. Until that happens, a lot wouldn't happen. Also, a lot of Modders do not like building their mods for consoles since there isn't a script extender for the games on console for their mods to function properly to begin with. At least that's the way it was a year ago.

That's unchanged. Microsoft and Sony will not let unauthorized third-party programs run on their consoles due to security concerns. Nor would Bethesda ever host mods that use such for various reasons. Console players are thus forced to use whatever is released on BethNet and the CC. Which is exactly where Bethesda wants them. They can control what is and isn't available to protect their image against sites like this and they can charge money for the privilege of getting mods. Cynical, yes, but the CC itself is basically a cynical practice in gouging customers.

I figured as much, I knew they wouldn't allow most mods because once you give the opening for Scripts into FO4 and SSE, dear god the flooding of sex mods would happen. In turn, you know what will happen, those games would instantly become A-Rated [21+] in America vs. it's current rating. So right here, keeps them like you said, within reach. Here you go, a game with 2GB for mods. If you want to do more, buy a PC and the game for PC for the expanded features. Have fun. xD

Thanks for your feedback. I understand the reluctence to mod xbox, but heres my position. Most cbbe compadible outfits have been blocked. Im trying to find a way to port or create a 3d model of the vaillia underwear, to fit over body replacers with tattoos, thongs etc. I like the body shape ive got on console, but not the actual underwear. I think a 3d model is blocked even though its not nudity. Any experience with that? Outfits being blocked even though they fit guidlines?

Plus no vendor will stock an AO-rated ("Adults Only") game on their shelves. That's considered the kiss of death by most major gaming companies. Everything about Bethesda mods for consoles highlights the very reasons no other company has tried it before: it's hard to do and expensive to begin with, you run into all the issues we've seen over the past two years, it requires permission from the console manufacturing companies, and if the console manufacturers decided to they could easily cut off network access to BethNet and the CC. The last item would likely only be invoked if there was some sort of mass popular outcry over content or Bethesda somehow compromised network security. Hence Bethesda has to be rather draconian in what they will and will not allow on BethNet and the CC.

Then there are the hardware limitations to consider. Consoles, even ones like the XBOX One X, are several years out of date compared to even a basic (~$400-500) gaming computer. Their hardware just can't handle the strain the larger and more complex mods place on them. By their nature, consoles are restricted to the low-res, extremely basic mods they're already getting.

Bethesda has already blacklisted Caliente's work. They've done that with several other authors whose work included nude models. It's a paranoid "better safe than sorry" mode of thought on their part.
