Fresh Install, Wanting Some Suggestions

Hello all,

 

I just recently got back into skyrim and the modding craze ( I spend more time modding than playing.. and have yet to beat the game or any of its dlc...), I shamefully spent my entire weekend downloading mods and getting things set up. I have all of SL working with some minor issues with animations being disabled after running fnis (no worries there).

 

I then went on to download armors, textures all the pretty stuff. Welp now I'm getting CTD's when turning the corner from the Standing stones and riverwood, And also when you come down the mountain path and see the giant fighting farkas and co. 

 

I have decided to just do a complete uninstall and am going to start fresh, I have used Mod Organizer in the past and liked it, I was using NMM this time and tried using the profiles feature it has in its latest version and i think thats where thinks got screwy.  So my question for you guys/gals is which mod manager is best for handling profile swapping? I don't always like to play with SL mods but some times i do, I'd like to be able to flip back n forth with different saves.

 

Secondly, and I know this is probably asked all the time but would anyone be willing to give me a brush up on my load order and answer a few questions about install order? Skeletons body mods and textures and the like I seem to be overwriting things in the wrong order and just causing havok.  Basically I like the SL main mod, Creature framework, Submit and a few others, Then I download a few custom companions, from nexus and this site. then I usually get a UNP body, XMP32 Extended. HDT Physics. I found the ALL in One animated pussy mod here and install it last, after installing the UNP body, Skeleton and Physics file the overwrite them with the All in one mod. 

 

I had grabbed a few custom armor mods, Gwendals Red Riding hood ( spell check sorry. ) and a Black rose set, but I noticed the leggings on these were clipping badly on my characters body unless I had the full set on, not sure if thats due to a FNIS idle animation or the skeleton getting wonky. 

 

I know this is a long post, but if anyone wouldn't helping me out I would really appreciate it. I would love to finally have a stable game to play all the way through with mods ( wishfull thinking? )

First off I have never done the main quests either. Civil War, Dragons, Vampires - just say 'no'.

My standard advice for anyone looking for a stable install is to use the S.T.E.P. Guide.

I use NMM but I don't need profile swapping. MO seems to be better than NMM with profiles.

You didn't say how long you have been away from Skyrim but if I were you I would revisit the description pages of all your favourite mods to see if they are still being supported. I would also mooch around to see if there are newer mods which do the same things or more.

If you are not interested in the vanilla quests then consider mods such as 'The Choice is Yours', 'Timing is Everything', and 'The Manipulator'.

Thanks for your input I will check out S.T.E.P , I ended up going back to MO. I had a 100% stable game going but started getting download happy again (lol...) I'm getting a crash when loading any save now which is quite the bummer. I checked my HDT Log and I see its looking for hdtfingers.xml and can't find it. Not sure where this is coming from but i reinstalled HDTPE and still am not having luck. ( I am running FNIS everytime I install/re-install any skeletons/animations/physics. ) Another issue I'm having, which i was not in my previous install is majority of my creature animations are not loading. I fired up SL animation loader and registered all them but the creatures are stuck in T Pose. 

 

I downloaded a few armor mods, One that is causing an instant crash when I hover over the item in my inventory is Merta's Black Rose armor. which is pretty odd.

 

I think I need some help with my load order. as Loot appears to not be enough. anyone willing to take a look?  

 

I guess I get confused with how high up SL framework's / mods are supposed to go. To my understanding XMP32 Skeleton is supposed to be loaded last? Not sure if the AIO animated poonani is causing conflicts being loaded before the skeletons.

A few questions:

 

Are you using an ENB? 

 

Have you installed things like Crash Fixes, Bug Fixes, or Safety Load as found on the Nexus?  Those address some of the issues you've described.

 

Have you edited your .ini file, as is found in this self-proclaimed lazy mod: (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51038).   These edits also address loading/crashing issues.

 

And, yes, your skeleton should load very late in your order, and it should never be overwritten; as you have it, with skeleton second to last and alternate start last, looks good.

Installing ENB with enb boost, crash fixes, CTD load game fix is what did the trick. Thank you for your posts  took me a while and a lot of research to get it to work but i have 200+ mods with a beautiful ENB and all of the SL mods working perfectly.
