Ghoulz Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 I managed to solve it last time through this https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/1009887-all-mods-suddenly-stop-working/ It hasn't even been a whole week and game started @#$%ing up again. That method doesn't even help now. I honestly don't why this keeps happening. I'm not even flooding the game with a mountain of mods. Not that it matters when even just SkyUI alone installed and alternate start for the only mods don't function. It's just perma vanilla though SKSE claims to be up and running.
theman123 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Are you using MO? You might be using a different profile in it that doesn't have any mods activated.

Have always been using NMM. Hell I tried launching the game without SKSE from the base launcher with one mod without a SKSE dependency and it's absent, no ID no nothing.
Nazzzgul666 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 Did you start a new game? If not the answer is probably "your save is screwed".

I always attempted a new game. It's way more than a screwed save. Literally, everything is messed up. You can't even pick a race, you just immediately get chosen as Nord without customization coming up, along with no mods working. When I had it working I could load every save I had even after the 2nd meltdown was solved so it's no corrupted saves.
RW311 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 What are you using to sort mods? Mods load from a text file located in C:/users/yourname/appdata/local/skyirm/plugins.txt If plugins.txt does not get updated when you run any mod sorting program like nmm, loot or skyrim launcher (after checking the mods list), then check that the txt file has not been set to read only.

Files in C:/Users seem to be working as should. Alters when Loot is used to sort load order and plugins displays what I have active. Even the launcher displays the changes to load order. The @#$% is causing this problem!? I can't find anything that looks wrong. I already tried the documents txt and let the launcher rebuild them, replaced them, ect. Reinstalled SKSE. Quote
RW311 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 When you install mods does nmm create them in a virtual path? Check in skyrim data folder for syslink files pointing to the mods actual location. It could be that the game is loading the plugins.txt correctly but something is screwed up with the virtual path so the esps would all be empty and would of course load no data, this would have to be solved through nmm settings I think, don't use it so I'm not sure what you would do from this point.

Noticed I have two NMM installed. Virtual is pointing at E:/Games/NMM. I launch from E:/NMM. Guess it won't hurt to investigate this. Currently uninstalling everything. I guess it's moving the files.

It's 1000x better to use than NMM imo. It's easier to see what files are overriding which too.

NMM was a terrible idea from the start. The people working on it have no experience with Windows programming or Skyrim modding. Use Mod Organizer instead, it's literally infinitely better. Before anyone says "I've never had a problem with it", Shut the fuck up. Yes you have, everyone's had a problem with NMM at some point. Shitty software always causes problems. NMM is made by the Nexus for the Nexus. Mod Organizer is made by the community, for the community.
Ghoulz Posted January 26, 2018 Author Posted January 26, 2018 Apparently fixing my double NMM solved more than just that. It also fixed odd bullshit like the mystery of the voidless penisless males and other oddities. I probably will want to use MO eventually when I'm in the mood. Would certainly be useful to quickly swap on the fly the way too many animations I have installed that breaks even the FNIS XL version.
