Redswift Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Hello. This year I've seen a lot of those huge DLC-Sized mods pop up all over Nexus, and I've actually tried none of those. The reason for that is that my pc is not too powerful, and my mod list is a bit on the heavier side. Now my question is, will those huge mods cost me performance even when I'm outside of the lands they add? Can I just leave them aside after I'm done with them without having to start a new game?
swmas Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 My rule of thumb is a mod that adds a new worldspace that is way more demanding than the actual entire skyrim game (like Bruma) isn't worth installing. But if you want to play such a mod go for it, keep a save before installing and if you have problems you can go back, if it works it works. If the mod is well made you shouldn't have too much problems when youre done with the quests there and go back to Skyrim, except for a permanent increase to your save size.

Nagib Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Since the mod adds more assets, the loading starts to become longer. What I usually do, I start the game, beat the main questline, archmage questline. db and thieves guild. After that, I make a new clean save; install one of the big quest mods I wish to go through go through the mod remove the mod load clean save from step 1 and install the next big mod you wish to finish This approach has a minus though, whatever progress you did within the mod (items, perks, whatever) is lost after beating said mod, since we remove it and go back to a clean save... P. S. yatol was faster by 2 minutes :-) and did better explanation than I did
