shunter Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 So I was planning to make my first mod (a custom follower) and downloaded the CK; I boot it up, get a random error related to a mod, press "ok" to ignore it, then proceed to click the "open data" button thingy on the top left (I'm sorry, I haven't learned how the CK works yet), open "Skyrim.esm" (just as shown in this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2U6EkN20LqA) and when I double click "Skyrim.esm" and press ok, I get tons of error messages one followed up by another, as being: "MASTERFILE LOCALIZATION: Lookup failed for ID: 0X00012584 from strings file: STRINGS/Skyrim_english.dlstrings 'Yes to all' will disable all Warnings for this context." Then I press "Yes" and I get yet another error exactly like this one but with another number instead, as being, in order 0x0001257D 0x00012561 0x00012554 (and a bunch of others, there are too many to post here) And also a few like "MASTERFILE: NavmeshInfo 00028e37 has no parent space, ignoring" "Master: Errors were encountered during InitItem for reference: Base: 'ShipTrapdoor01MinUseHidden' (00061435) Ref: "(00099315) Cell: 'Wilderness' (0000967a) (2, -6) in world 'Tamriel' (0000003C) See Warnings file for more information." (again, a bunch of others, too many to post here) And then just once I got into actually loading up all the stuff. The rest of the times, it just freezes like it's loading and I have to ctrl+alt+del. Is my Skyrim messed up or what? I tried the "verify game cache integrity", but didn't really work. Please help, I really wanna get into modding, but this is pissing me off.
Chupy Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 Hmm... to be sure, always use the latest game patch (v1.7.7.0.6), and the CK has a patch (v1.6.89.0). All the steps are correct, no wrongs there. When making new mods that is the classic procedure; open CK, Go to data select Skyrim.esm and press OK. The problems lies in all the warnings, you can have a couple warnings/errors but not so many. So, either you have some nasty mods that somehow destroys your skyrim\data folder, or the main skyrim folder is messed up. --- Try first to patch everything and try again to load CK, but if still doesn't work... maybe uninstalling and installing fresh skyrim may work --- Usually CK isn't that hard to work with, you have just bad luck with all your technical problems
gregathit Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 I recommend you use steam to re-verify your game files. It could be that something has caused your skyrim.esm file to be messed up.
shunter Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Alright, I told Steam to verify my game once again, and now at least despite getting the exact same amount of errors, it loads up. Problem partially solved, since I don't mind the errors, as long as they don't interfere with CK itself...
icecold29 Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 This seems like Strings error. what i have read about CK seems like it uses Stings files {Files inside data/strings/*String*.*} Extract the files from original installation.. look up bsa's generally have these files example unpack bsa via bsa explorer look for folder strings/filename_EN.* select your corresponding language and extract files only donot extract the whole BSA archive.. example dawngaurd.bsa extract strings (EN) for me you choose yours and put them to {data/strings folder} overwrite if already there... Otherwise i donot know..
