CAS face sliders not working

Recommended Posts

hello, ~♥~Lith~♥~

sometimes TS3 Mods get corrupted for no reason whatsoever. hence, if a Mod stops working as it should, delete it from your "Mods/Packages/" folder and reinstall it.
one question, though: do you use NRaas? if so, have you changed any of its "Master Controller" parameters lately?

hope this helps;

So recently when i try to edit any of the face sliders in CAS nothing happens. They don't change anything and the values reset to default if i click on anything else. I have no idea what cause this since its never happened before and i haven't added any new mods in months.

I don't believe its any of the mods but i have messed with the master controller settings a bit. Although the CAS setting are the same as I've always had them.

hello, Lith,

i gave NRaas site a brief look, you should probably do the following:
• save your NRaas Master Controller settings through "Export Settings"

• reset NRaas "Master Controller" (it resets the sliders' quantity to 100)
• save and close the game

• reopen it
• then see how CAS Face Sliders behaves.

if it is still not behaving as it should, then check if you are using CMarNYC's XCAS Full version. if so, i remember reading there's a known conflict between XCAS and MC Integration (part of the MC package) that occurs intermittently if you have some newer expansions installed — namely Uni Life, Island Paradise, and Into the Future. since MC and MC Integration handle sliders better than CMar's, XCAS sliders Mods aren't really necessary. more on that may be found here.

another problem (and i had it a while back) occurs as a result of combining several scripts Mods into one: they also begin to behave awkwardly. it's rather safe to combine CC — outfits, accessories, genetics, etc. — into one big file; yet, combining script Mods ends up breaking them.

that's all i can think of at the moment.
sorry for not being able to help you better, Lith.
wish you the very best.

Is it just my impression or is Master Controller the ONE thing one should stay far away from, in order to get sliders to work, because it automatically blocks them by default no matter how often one true-flags and raises in its Settings?

Or is that just because Sims 3 suffers from its biggest problem, the "3"?

Somehow I think it's the "3" error, which can only be fixed by wiping Sims 3 off the drive, after all it even loves doing this:

You load game, you make a Sim, the outfit/skin pieces (with luck) take a year to load (on a machine 7 yrs newer than the game), you play some, save, exit, continue later and those same pieces are gone, cannot be found anymore.

//RANT_EXIT

Now seriously, how can anyone stomach this game? How do you do it?

I for one never even had any Custom sliders, I'd be lucky if that nonsense can handle the Default.

When I say NO Customs, I of course mean my /mods/packages is loaded with them, boobs for example.

Luckily EA learned later and did it right in 4 - that game's so fast one has to pause all the time or else it's too fast and one misses stuff.

I use 31 mods form NRaas, 50 from other creators, 40 sliders and hundreds in hairs, clothes and accessories and, of course, all the expansions and all the stuff packs sans two.

The only exception is OWK, I can´t run it without disabling half my mods so I prefer to avoid it.

I'm running a dual core with only 4gb on ram, invest some time optimizing this game.

good point, @JoshQ: optimising is the secret.
i'm running an iMac i5 with a good amount of RAM — which doesn't really matter, because the Sims 3 wrapper (Cider) only allows the game to allocate 2GB during runtime.
on a Mac, there are some procedures to take, such as do not exaggerate the quantity (not size, though) or CC used (the reason why i combine most of my CC packages), have the memory purged every 30 minutes or so, and other stuff. following these, i can play it for days in a row without crashing it.

thanks for your creations; they are truly great.

Double check your version of Master Controller and make sure you don't have testing version 134b that one was pulled due to problems with CAS and a couple of other things.

If you are using MC 134b testing then revert back to 134a which you can get at Nraas.
