nymphaspect Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Is there a mod or a way to force more than one piece of armor to occupy the same slot with both pieces of armor being visible? I want to keep both pieces of armor independent as well (not combine them into one piece of armor).
Alter Native Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Not sure what you mean with armor slot, from a player perspective there are only a couple of slot like feet, torso etc. but technically there are many more. So if you want to wear two toros for example you change the armor slot of one of them to a ring or something else that you would even notice during gameplay and wear both. But it's not possible to have two 63 - slots without merging the .nifs.
nymphaspect Posted November 26, 2017 Author Posted November 26, 2017 Well, okay. Here's what I'm attempting to do. I have a pair of stockings I want to wear boots over - but both occupy the 'feet' slot. Now, admittedly, I don't know all the reasons behind it, but stockings that cover the feet appear to all use a 'fake' foot reference so when I try to change to slot of the stockings then equip them, either the stocking doesn't display or the 'real' foot clips through. So, I attempted to change the slot of a pair of boots and had similar problems. Note that I've done some modifications in BodySlide to make sure the boots fit over the stockings, but when I did the work, it was with the stockings using their built-in foot reference.
Alter Native Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 You need to change the slot in the .nif and in the Creation Kit. If you change the slot to a non foot slot, the real foot will not be replaced.

I tried changing the boots to the 'calf' slot (in CK armor and armor addon, then in Nifskope for both _0 and _1), but when I did that, they wouldn't display when worn with the stockings. I could equip the boots without the stockings, but then as you say, the real foot wouldn't get hidden and clipped through the boots. Which is why I was hoping there was some way to force the game to allow multiple items equipped to the same slot. The only reason I thought it might be possible is that there was (probably patched out by now) a glitch/exploit that allowed people to equip multiple helmets or armor in the same slot.
Alter Native Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 So in case everything works correctly you should be able to equip both ingame. If both nifs match the same shape (heel height etc) you can just remove the foot from the nif that got changed to the non foot slot: NiTriShape -> [Right Click] -> Block -> Remove Branch Afterwards you are only left with the stockings part of the nif. If the stockings have a different foot shape than the boots you'll probably still have clipping, but if they do match the same shape this fixes the problem.

This glitch\exploit works just because the helmet do not have additional "circlet" slot checked in CK - like combination of Penitus Oculatus helmet and any circlet. BTW, you should check all your slots not only in .nif itself and Armor window, but also in ArmorAddon window.
nymphaspect Posted November 26, 2017 Author Posted November 26, 2017 /facepalm So, turns out, both items also shared the 'calf' slot. I moved the boots to slot 53 and left the stockings alone (calf and feet slots) and that seems to have fixed it. Thank you for wading into the quagmire that are my postings on things like this, I appreciate your help :)
nymphaspect Posted November 26, 2017 Author Posted November 26, 2017 I still have to fix the arms, but this is essentially what I'm going for right now.
