But even in that way smtimes just easier to "restore" original anim and use proper way anyway (especially if you anyway will work with anim itself so will need that convertion)

Other than that (when no need to "restore" and converter cause no issues, so its just "back-forward and save-load, few minutes") - its really work for few mins, literally "one string edit after convertion, then back convertion and save")

 

I'm still afraid to download the free app DB. I try to help through explanation and simple edit with notepad.

Dunno what you are afraid of - its free on oficial site of its developers, so no "virus|scam surprises"

Same for GIMP ("free Photoshop" functinality, usefull for editing DD sprites properly)

 

But its up to you, ofc)

I just suggested "what you can use for expand your edit abilities for DD edits|modding")

Does anyone know where the nurse and dinner table curio skin can be found? And are there more hallway and room pictures?

 

The nurse ll be release in the next ELP-Psychosisters mod so its not available for now and for the background or curio i'm not sure but i think its a personnal work from the author so i dont think he ll share it.

Endountered today (actually it was already few days, but was hoping it was "one-day issue" - still continuing and today) that few sites that i used for sharing GIFs are now almost unavaliable for me (guess again "region|route issue")

 

Dont know if it will be solved "on its own" as sometimes happening, but for now i will be able to post only static images and archives, so for now no more GIF examples of new anims

I can preview them in archive, but without in-page preview since LL forum 

  • Accepted file types: jpg, jpeg, png, webp, zip, rar, 7z, log, txt, esp, esl, esm, package, pdf, sims3pack, doc, docx, mp3, wav, json, psc, pex

no GIFs allowed, as you see

 

Lets hope this issue is only temporarly, or as option i just will search for another free-sharing site for GIFS|images

After that, just upload it to the site and copy-paste it into the post like the image below, so easy

You misunderstand - i have problem not with upload pattern, with site access itself

Site itself just not uploading|uploading slowly like "slow internet speed" - looking like "region|route issue" again, like block|manual slowing speed

 

I also dont see now previously uploaded with postimage GIFs or even static sprites, like this -

Its for sure not LL issue now, its postimage issue (i already tested and tried|checked)

 

Lets hope it just temporarly issue and will being fixed soon, like "no more region|route restriction|slowing")

Also as i said - its meaning i will not be able to upload only GIF previews for anims, i still be able to upload static sprites and archives with mods using standard LL functionality, as usual (until i will not have issues with LL itself, ofc))

In fact its not so critical, just "no anims previews|examples" for now)

it just example 'animating webp'

 

At this point, loverslab is blocked from gif functioning.
It takes time to edit and upload something else, so I took out whatever was in my folder and uploaded it.

How would one make a copy/variant of a monster? I want to have both Xelsword's and the new Protospark's swine reaver mods at the same time.

I know nothing about coding but maybe if you copy every files for your monster and replace all the lines where the monster in mentionned by a new name maybe it can work (i dont believe in what i'm saying myself) i know something to create new heroes to have more heroes skin like 2 vestales but not for monsters sry.

This will work but it takes so much work, even just changing name. It is not as easy as hero skins.

For hero skins someone  posted an auto new class app that copy the base class of darkest so its not too long (i didn't try it myself bcs i prefere to have 2 or 3 campaign on darkest with different art line like one full Xels and ELP and another one with full ZIMIK or anae)

I remember such app mentioned in Xelsword's mods. 

For monster, extra things to add/edit is dungeon.mesh, file determine on how the monster appear in battle (i.e which rank and who is the other monster).

I would like to help because i'd like to do mods by myself but i really have no clue about coding or .Darkest files and with my low level in english i dont understand modding guides.

Bit difficult if you do not understand english well. I suggest you to open the file and see the coding. Do not worry - it does not semi colon and colon bullshit for this type of modding.

 

Most DARKEST files and xml can be opened and viewed with Notepad. It will be better if you have Notepad+. 

 

You can try download any mods, dissect it and observe how they put the file or naming it. Compare this with Darkest Dungeon original files. It should be the same because generally the mods is replacing or adding something to the files. 

 

You can even download the mods and edit it right and there (except Steam Workshop. You can but need extra step)

I didn't know that notepad could open DARKEST files thx for the info.

 

I already tried to dissect mods and edit  but i only moved files like i wanna try to have your collector vestal as a playable skin so i moved files to a Xel's base vestal and it work but i dont understand how he shadowed his skins (not the only problem i have about drawing on pc) so I couldn't make the animation frame even with all I need technically. 

 

I think before skins i should try curio or inventory things it seems way easier.

My editing style is to take the original PNG (let say the combat) edit the colour by selecting/highlighting certain part and change the saturation, concentration, brightness, etc. 
If I want to add new things (like new eyes), cover it with with colour (you can use dropper to copy the color) and draw on top of it. 

I always start with the combat, idle and walk instead of other sprite because those are the trickiest. Once you able to edit those, it is much easier to edit other anim. 

Here notes that I jot down for the Collected Gardevoir. Will it be useful? no, because I did not use Photoshop or GIMP but u can try.
(cont = contrast. lum = luminance. bri = brightness. sat = saturation.
clrz = colorized function but I don't know other app has this function or not)

 

START FROM Xel's Vestal blonde hair palette!!

Collected Gardevoir edit: 
Skin   +45 cont,  -90 depth.  
then, Nips   clrz +90 hue,  +10 sat,  -10 lum.  
then, dark clothing   copy paste  -60 bri,  -100 depth. 

 

Hair   +70 hue,  +50 sat,  -30 bright.  
Clothing Green   +90 hue,  -20 bri,  -100 depth.  
then, Clothing breast & boot   -35 bri.  

 

Scarf   -40 hue,  +60 sat.  
Glove   +90 hue,  +60 sat,  -15 lum.  
Metal w/o circle   -30 bri. 

Page   -100 depth.

Yeah this one is easier. Just draw on top of the png. 
If you draw from scratch, (i.e making new curio size entirely, instead of just drawing within the PNG size), I could give tips.
