Evilynn Posted October 21, 2017 Posted October 21, 2017 I've been playing with Amazon Polly for Text-to-Speech.Ā It's super cheap. The first 5 million characters are free and it's $4.00 per million characters after that.Ā I'm not sure how useful it will be for most mods, but for a few (like the mod I'm working on - Lich Evilynn) I think it will work very well.Ā IĀ think I'm going to go with "Salli". I also like "Joanna". Attached is an example of both. Let me know what y'all think.Ā I used the following sample text:Ā <speak> <p> Well, it has been a very, very long time since I have been surprised. Every other time, the girl has been freed. But not you. I find that to be a rather pleasing surprise. </p> <break time="2s"/> <p> I am Evilynn, and no, I won't leave. At least, not yet I won't. </p> <break time="2s"/> <p> Its very simple, <phoneme alphabet="ipa" ph="rili">really</phoneme>. Centuries ago, I was able to modify a soul gem to protect my life essence, to keep it within, without binding it to the Soul Gem. The process of transferring my essence to the gem depleted me, however, and it has taken a very long time to regain sufficient power to be able to begin to return to the world. To complete my return, I need a new body. </p> </speak> Joanna.mp3 Salli.mp3
francisco442 Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 That works really well! I've noticed that the program takes a pause during some of the commas, and it doesn't sound natural, but that's a start!
FauxFurry Posted May 30, 2018 Posted May 30, 2018 Text-to-Speech may not be the most elegant solution (yet),it is better thanĀ leaving characters in an otherwise fully voiced game muteĀ in mods both here and on the Nexus. This is Skyrim, not Daggerfall, after all (for better or worse).
