Guest Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 As the title says. You can still buy oldrim and all it's DLC, just not as the Legendary edition. It has been pulled off from the store front. No doubt this is to direct future purchasers to special edition. This is absurd. Bethesda has taken greed to a whole new level. Not sure if anyone cares but I will no longer support this dev/publisher. I will no longer pay to play their games. Viva piracy. Edit - actually, you can't even find base oldrim using steam search function. It's still findable, but only if you have the direct link to the store page.
Sarge Misfit Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Its more likely that its a Steam decision, given how licensing and marketing is handled in the US. Given that Bethesda isn't doing any work on Oldrim plus the release of SSE, it is very likely that Steam has decided that Oldrim is obsolete. This is done with all software. As updated versions are released, out-dated versions get phased out and dropped.

As you said I do agree that this is a marketing thing but nevertheless disheartening. Look at Divinty Original Sin 1. There is a classic edition and an enhanced edition on steam even tho the enhanced edition is objectively superior in all aspects (as far as I'm aware at least). This is why I disagree with steam having anything to do with it. This is a decision made by Bethesda.
Akzyra Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 That was bethesda for sure. Universe Sandbox Legacy can't be bought anymore, they want to sell Version 2. Let's hope Beth doesn't do that to the Skyrim LE page Edit: As it won't get sales anymore, buying retail is better.
Skullered Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Kind of old news. It was pulled from searches a long time ago.
Hania the bard Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 The game is very old, so i can understand no longer supporting it. Pulling it from the market though? Dick move. I'm glad i bought it when i did! It looks like you can still get it on amazon though. So that's still an option.
Guest Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Well, this is mostly me venting but I have decided to no longer support ANY dev/publisher that is disrespectful to its fans. I will instead go out of my way to pirate their work. This includes Bethesda, EA, Bioware, Blizzard, WB, and some others. I mean It's not like there is a dearth of good devs. In general I think ALMOST all large western game companies are no longer worthy of my respect and dedication as a fan. Instead I will focus my support towards companies like CDPR, Larian, Piranha Bytes, and even some Japanese companies (Square Enix nowadays is pretty good, also Platinum and some others) instead of wasting my bucks on atrocious behavior.
lordgdavid Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 6 year old game I got for 10dollars now bumped price to 40? If you buy the special edition do you get oldrim LE?

Hania the bard Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 6 year old game I got for 10dollars now bumped price to 40? If you buy the special edition do you get oldrim LE? Bathesda... wtf... The digital code on amazon is $40. The physical copy is $20. This doesn't make any sense. I'm so confused.

They got my offical boycott as of 6 weeks ago. No more purchases from me. Not from the devs, not anyone that has to do anything with the publisher. They are nothing without their community and yet they start butchering them for even more money. Respect to everyone that have the patience towards them after all this.

Speaking of shitty devs, I boycotted ubisoft years ago and have not regretted it yet. If more people take similar actions then these retarded policies would change. Here's hoping. 6 year old game I got for 10dollars now bumped price to 40? If you buy the special edition do you get oldrim LE? nope, you'll only get SE. I'm still hoping that the next Elder Scrolls game will incorporate base building... I might be overacting but I'm sure bethesda will do something like that and willl fuck it up. I assure you. F4's settlement building (the games biggest selling point imo) was mediocre at best but sim settlements saved it for me (a free mod).
Akzyra Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 I think a good settlement mode for a TES game wouln't need that much: A camping and a settlement mode. One for small and temporary stuff and the other for creating a village.I don't mind a set location, maybe you find an old abandoned spot and can choose to rebuild. Maybe multiple to choose one from, another could be a nice location where you start from scratch.
