KainsChylde Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 When trying to build settlements, if I'm in an outdoor vanilla settlement there seems to be an invisible grid within the boundaries of the build area. If I cross one of these grid lines I'm ejected from build mode. This only happens in vanilla outdoor settlement. If I'm indoors, such as Home Plate or The Mechanist Lair or in a mod-added settlement I have no problems. "Shotguns" is a merge of the Trinity and Widow shotguns, and I followed the instructions provided to make "ValdacilsItemSorting-00-Kain's Picks", it is functionally identical to the "Vals Picks" provided in the FOMOD just with my preferences instead of theirs. Any help is greatly appreciated, it's hard to fully enjoy FourPlay when I can't properly build my brothels
Benjou1 Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 I hope it's not your real load order here, it looks like it as been reorganized alphabetically by that Creation Club sh*t bug. make sure you avoid conflicts by using FO4E and disable unnecessary plugins like "Scrap everything Core" (you don't need it if you have "Scrap Everything - Ultimate Edition") My best advice would be to disable any mods that edit vanilla settlements like "Clean and Simple settlement startup" and please just put every build mods together on the top of your load order. or maybe this can help you: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25316
KainsChylde Posted September 22, 2017 Author Posted September 22, 2017 Yes, that is my real load order, I got the modern furniture and horse armor while they were free. Though I did run LOOT and hand organised after that. I'm aware that Scrap Everything Core is redundant with Ultimate but for some reason it stops working if I remove Core. I've brought it up on the mod page comments and was accused of lying, so I just work with what I've got. As for Clean and simple Settlement Startup, this problem was occurring before I loaded that mod. All it does is clean up unscrapable things like certain trees and those annoying puddles and bloodstains that never go away. The horse armor is crap, and while I like the modern furniture stuff I'm sure I can find something equivalent or better on Nexus so I'll get rid of those and try your load order suggestion. Quick question on that, though. I usually load my UI and mechanics mods at the top (things like combat physics and the like). Should I put the build mode stuff above or below those? Either way, thank you for your help.

I'm not going to document every settlement as that would take all day on my slow computer and would be incredibly frustrating so I will thoroughly document one settlement as an example. In these pictures I used Scrap Everything and the console command "scrapall" to bulldoze Red Rocket near Sanctuary. The dark squares are locations where I was kicked out of build mode. For orientation, the indentation in the concrete opposite the bend in the road is where the mole rat den is located.
Veladarius Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Seeing as the areas you marked seem to run in a straight line somewhat I looked at the navmesh which shows the cell boundaries and the locations correspond with the borders of the cells there. Green lines are the cell borders: As to what is causing it I am not sure, possibly Scrap Everything but I have used it without having this issue myself. The only thing I can think of is that there is an overload when crossing cell boundaries and it is loading other cells and it kicks you out of the construction mode.

Now I just need to figure out how to paint straight lines on terrain in the CK and make myself a plugin marking cell borders in settlements.
Veladarius Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 There are a few console commands that may help playing while using them would be difficult at best. Toggleborders is supposed to toggle the cell borders so they are visible, could not see them normally but combined with ToggleWireFrame you could see the cells more clearly though in an area with a lot of stuff it obscures quite a bit and you may not be able to see the borders This is what it looks like (this is at the Cambridge Police Station); Heck of a view: i used TFC to move the camera to a higher position for this.

That is actually in game but you can get the wireframe view in the CK as well as turn on cell borders (works better in the CK).
