arpaschad Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 So I just saw that 7.0 was out for a long time and I only found out now through the announcements section of this forum and since my the number of creature animations I have in the SL registry are full I think it might be a good idea to upgrade my FNIS after 3 years...(last version I used was 6.3) so I downloaded the new version, uninstalled the old one, installed 7.0, pointed NMM to where it is located and when I tried to start it this error comes up on the very top of FNIS: ERROR OCCURRED: 53 ..\..\..\TESV.exe so any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated...I've tried running it directly but same problem exists... EDIT: Reverted back to 6.3 and everything now works... now to make 7.0 work...
fore Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Can you post the full FNIS output? And say where you have Skyrim, FNIS, and MO installed? Which type of device? Error 53 in Windows says "The network path was not found." is the path between the generator and One difference between 6.3 and 7.0 is, that 7.0 works for both Skyrim and SSE. And for that FNIS has to check in which environment it is. Which is done by looking for the exe files. And "..\..\..\TESV.exe" is the path between the location of the generator "Skyrim\data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe" and "Skyrim\TESV.exe". Not even knowing if you really use MO, I am a little scared that this could be the cause. Since there have been numerous, different situations, where MO has difficulty dealing with different file locations at the same time (same file in Skyrim\Data, in MO\mods, in bsa, in loose files}. And that often resulted in some Windows errors (like "path not found")

I have replaced the check for TESV.exe with another one, located directly in the generator folder. THe strange thing is, that I use exactly the same path since decades in order to get the Skyrim version number (and I don't want to remove that check, of course). Just in another context, and a little later. Now the place for this "other context" is also earlier than before, and it would not be a surprise if this version would also fail. But it is important for me to know, what really is the cause, or at least the situation, of the failure. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4wJfSHB28r8enlIWXJNNURJLVk/view?usp=sharing

Guest Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Looks like not a valid steam installation. Be aware that we do not support not-original versions of the game.

You just need to tell steam where you want to put it.

I just moved my folder and when I run skyrim it still boots steam to play it. No steam app or anything on the folder.
LazyBoot Posted September 22, 2017 Posted September 22, 2017 Really? I just moved my folder and when I run skyrim it still boots steam to play it. No steam app or anything on the folder.Well, moving games without properly (re-)installing can easily lead to things not working.

Skyrim is a Steam Game and can only be (legally) installed via Steam.

I already said Skyrim is a Steam game, it is impossible to install without steam, so Skyrim must appear in the Steam folder.

Are you aware after installation you can move the skyrim folder to exactly the path you described and run the game through steam regardless? Just manually click the .exe file and the game runs. When you launch the game through either SKSE or the base game Steam pops up. I myself put all the skyrim copies (I have like 6) in a "Skyrim Masterfile" and as I mod various ones or break them I just jump to the next copy I made of the vanilla version. So far I have never had any issue.

I used a short time a NO steam crack, because me steam with its monitoring and shit advertising went on the nerves. but after a short time removed again, no more updates and thus many problems.

Just wanted to add that my skyrim lies on "Program Files (x86)\Skyrim (Special)". I did the same thing, i copied it from the Steam Folder ("Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim") and everything works. Originally i planned to mod one Game "normal" and another with stuff from here, but that was to much hassle and MO made things easier . In Short: The Folder can be outside of the Steam Folder Path while still be a valid copy. yes, in this case you are right, You can move the Skyrim folder after installation, but a connection to Steam should always remain. This is as far as i know correct.
winny257 Posted September 23, 2017 Posted September 23, 2017 ---snip--- In Short: The Folder can be outside of the Steam Folder Path while still be a valid copy. ---snip--- Yes, thats right, I already said a move is possible, but the folder which you move called * Skyrim * and not * TSEV Skyrim LE *! and renaming the Skyrim folder is not advisable, because this renamed (TSEV) Skyrim (LE) folder is no longer recognized by the Skyrim EXE.
